I was thinking Trump probably not going to tweet anything on trade talks until he meets with Xi later next month
Would like to see the relative strength of growth/value (eg IVW/IVE) get above that 50-day sma. Growth stock TEAM reports tomorrow.
NFLX earnings should be interesting after the bell, they will have pressure to post solid subscriber number due to increasing competition
and so it begins! should be interesting indeed to see how this ER season goes...we've got a good solid 2 weeks of this until the next fed meeting on the day before halloween i believe
I didn’t check the latest rate cut offs for October but looks like the retail sales data were pretty disappointing this morning, so my guess is the chances of a cut are still pretty high
Both directions are pointing to rate cut I just realized you can copy and paste images on the reply tab, I didn't know that this is convenient Forum, love it
S&P 500 Sector Valuations Thu, Oct 17, 2019 The S&P 500's trailing 12-month P/E ratio has ticked up to 19.62 recently, which is close to its highest level of the past year. For valuations to stop expanding on any breakout higher for the S&P, we'll need to see earnings (the "E" in P/E) keep up with price. That's going to be a tough ask for corporate America this quarter, so we may be heading into 2020 with valuations at more concerning levels. Below are one-year charts of P/E ratios for ten S&P 500 sectors. These charts are included in our weekly Sector Snapshot report sent to Bespoke Premium members. Consumer Discretionary has the highest P/E ratio at 24.15 followed by Technology at 23.38. Tech's P/E has really jumped a lot recently to new 52-week highs. The Financial sector has the lowest P/E of the major sectors at just 13.27.
Will be interesting to see what the FED does this month, the FED speakers seem to be trying to walk back expectations on the rate cuts lately
Yeah if the market goes higher then we will likely see some PE expansion, earnings growth probably will be pretty flat for the near future
NFLX is now way off from its HOD, looks like they will have to prove themselves against those competition from DIS and AAPL first.
ISRG and TEAM report today. ISRG could be a surprise to the downside. I'll watch which way WDFC chooses to go after their report. This year has just been one long consolidation after last year's incredible run.
Yeah, and NFLX is still way off its ATH. In a few years there will be consolidation. But right now, everyone wants to start their own streaming service and try to hold on to their past profits. Eventually CBS All Access will see that it's better to put their content on a site where there's eyeballs.
