DOJ probes Ford over transmission defects The Department of Justice has asked Ford through a subpoena for documents related to potential transmission defects in ~2M Ford Fiesta and Focus vehicles, according to Detroit Free Press. The inquiry reportedly focuses on the dual-clutch transmissions used in the entry-level, fuel-efficient vehicles. Detroit Free Press reported last summer some Ford officials knew the potential that some cars on the road had the defects. Seems to me that there's nothing "potential" about these defects. The DOJ itself is sending subpoenas, they must have a pretty good idea that the problem exists.
