I agree on that. I am not familiar with pcinvasion but Toms Hardware has been around along time their results were different. The only thing I know for sure is they are sold out in most places except for some re-sellers on Amazon upping the price. If there are no recalls, AMD should be good to go
If the problems is true and it can be fixed with software than it's fine, if it's a hardware problem that's not fine especially if it breaks a motherboard. If it doesn't actually exist than even better. AMD needs to stay around cause otherwise nvidia has no competition.
It appears that GTX 960 had the same issue as well. Read more: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=29719176&postcount=10420
If I had to guess, sellers/shorts have finished their attempt at pushing AMD down and it'll now hold steady/slightly increase for the rest of the day
Pre-market light this morning which is unusual of late. Here is some of the current news and hard to say if it will move the needle Microsoft and Sony are planning to move to frequent incremental upgrades for their respective consoles. This is a shift from the past when the two relied on massive hardware upgrades every 6-7 years. This should provide a nice boost for AMD, a company that supplies console CPUs and GPUs to the two companies. Faster Console Refreshes A Boon For AMD Stock New console upgrades will therefore not only mean higher sales volumes for AMD, but also much better margins. In any case, the new 4k-capable APUs the company will sell to Microsoft and Sony are likely to sport fatter margins than their predecessors. With the console industry moving to incremental upgrades instead of massive upgrades every 7-8 years, AMD's semi-custom segment could be in for a good time. That should keep AMD stock sizzling. What short term events do we have that could boost higher? I think almost all of the good news we were all expecting is baked in here. Now we need to see a good trend develop that will consolidate this massive move we had over the past month.
I think the market is still waiting on sales and the tech issue to be legit or not. What's odd if there is a real tech issue it should have showed up with their partners that checked it out prior to the release to the public. Could the NVDA's gurard dogs be spreading mis-information. Earnings is estimated to report earnings on 07/21/2016. This why I bought the July 29th calls
AMD lost 7 cents on low volume Friday as it moved with the sector as even NVDA was down. I found the following about the 480 from AMD on 3 different sites so I assume it to be true. AMD Releases Statement On Radeon RX 480 Power Consumption As you know, we continuously tune our GPUs in order to maximize their performance within their given power envelopes and the speed of the memory interface, which in this case is an unprecedented 8Gbps for GDDR5. Recently, we identified select scenarios where the tuning of some RX 480 boards was not optimal. Fortunately, we can adjust the GPU's tuning via software in order to resolve this issue. We are already testing a driver that implements a fix, and we will provide an update to the community on our progress on Tuesday (July 5, 2016). http://wccftech.com/amd-statement-rx-480-pcie-power/ Why AMD is Acquiring Graphics Specialist HiAlgo http://www.investopedia.com/stock-a...ist-hialgo-amd-intc-nvda.aspx?partner=YahooSA
The ability to fix this via a software push is great news. I don't expect this to affect the price much. I can not wait until earnings. Regardless of Q2 numbers, I think guidance will be great.
I agree with that @HelloIDistance. Even NVDA has had issues on delivery has come up with a driver fix. I posted in the VR thread yesterday that Gamestop sold out the new Playstation in 4 minutes. As far as I know they have Polaris inside. I expect Xbox to follow suit. http://stockaholics.net/threads/vr-virtual-reality.956/ As far as sales go the only 480's are available from some re-sellers that have jacked up the price and charging shipping costs. The following is from the Best Buy website
The only reason I am posting this is show how mis-information is spread on the net. Articles like this is usually orchestrated by those with vested interest on the short side. We bought our XFX RX 480 4GB retail unit straight from newegg on launch day for $199 and it’s still available as I’m writing this http://wccftech.com/amd-rx-480-4gb-cards-8gb-unlockable-bios-update/ All out of stock on Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1&N=100007709 601203818&Tpk=rx 480&ignorear=1
now you talking my language... scalping even better good luck I am still behind this one same as WPX now added SID
Well AMD did p-poor over the last 3 days, which were quite green for SPY. Let's see how she does on a red day
