This is the big day for COINBASE, one of the hottest direct listings on the planet. Ironically they adopted the same ticker and exchange the WINKLEVOSS TWINS tried to create only to be shot down by the SEC. I'm not buying in today, only watching. I can only imagine how this will play out today. After the new wears off in a few months let's see where it lands from the $250 mark. Here ya go folks, chase the dragon.
Nice small pullback, trapping the new buyers once again. Easier to trade the downside while others are trapped and confused.

Why are the openings so volatile at the moment? With new positions, I have to put in a lot looser stops than I regularly do. I have been stopped out several times in the past couple of weeks, just to see the stock higher a few hours later.
Openings in some specific stock? If professional traders know that some meme stock is getting a lot of attention and has a lot of short term traders in there, a great way to hit the stops is to push the obvious levels. Loosen up the levels, change time frames maybe. Dont over trade. The common trap is getting caught in a system which has been working and then suddenly stops working.
The indexes had a great run last week. Finding a lot of stocks trading sideways this week (although SPY just keeps running). Which as you've seen, can mean a dip for a day or two then a bounce back. One thing to consider when your new position dips, is to assess if a downtrend is starting. If no downtrend starting, then try not to be so quick to the exit. After a sideways week, you want to see those stocks start moving up next week.
Tricks of the trade my son. I make more money being patient, you have to get in the mind of most traders, knowing they set tight stops. The algos are built to shake you out.
Thanks. This makes sense. Also, I hate trading against algos. Especially when opening positions. Sometimes they make me chase a stock for a couple of cents and then it drops back right after I bought it.
Not being rude, just honest. We trade with computers nowadays. They are designed to shake the stops. Most traders use tight ones. Its a double edged sword.
Interesting to see bonds yields making such a sharp move to the downside today Market up pretty nicely but I still see a lot of stocks with smaller market caps aren't having that good of a day. Those Chinese tech stocks can't seem to catch a break too
