For those that don't think VR is coming, well the check is in mail. I will let you do your own DD and figure out what company has their GPU inside.

GameStop Sells Out of PlayStation(R) VR Units in 4 Minutes
On Thursday, June 30, GameStop was the only retailer to re-open pre-orders for the Sony Interactive Entertainment PlayStation VR system. The allotment of VR systems was available only on www.gamestop.com and sold out quickly.

Sony is currently developing the Playstation VR, dubbed “Project Morpheus.” Part of what separates it from competing VR products is the fact that it does not require a PC for use, as our team pointed out.

PSVR is slated for release on October 13th at a price of $400. It connects to the Playstation 4 and is a headset that will be used along with the Playstation Eye and the Move controller, Sony’s counter to the WiiMote from Nintendo NTDOY. This remote is part of the critique of the product, with some arguing that it does not allow for precise enough control.

The critique is met equally by those satisfied with the pricing, especially when compared to Oculus Rift’s $599 and the HTC Vive’s hefty $799 price tags. Should their release go well, SNE will be on track for a great 2016.

Guess VR is what will finally answer my doubts which console to buy - if MSFT doesn't implement VR to theirs, I'll have to buy Sony!

Microsoft Unveils New Virtual-Reality Gaming Console
Project Scorpio is due out next year; plans also under way for a slimmer Xbox One

Microsoft Corp. is developing a new videogame console for virtual-reality and 4K resolution gaming, the company said Monday at a media event in Los Angeles ahead of the gaming industry’s annual E3 conference. It also is planning a slimmer version of the Xbox One.

The new console, dubbed “Project Scorpio,” is expected for the 2017 holiday season and “will be the most powerful console ever built,” Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said on stage at the Galen Center. The beefier machine will provide “true 4K gaming and premier VR experiences,” he said.

Only Microsoft will lose it all over again like they did in 2013. As I mentioned earlier, Hololens isn't really affordable VR and it's more for developers than for gamers. But yeah, it'll be fun to watch how it all plays out.

The good thing with MSFT is that however bad decisions they make, their management and PR team manages to make something interesting out of it. So the competition is going to be exciting anyway.

Because you'll never get a PC with the same money-perfomance ratio. It'll always cost you more.

Police Shut Down VR Porn Festival After Crowds Grew Too Big
Japan’s first virtual reality porn festival came to an abrupt finish after crowds overwhelmed the venue and forced police to intervene. Adult VR Fest 01 is set to return to Tokyo next month, but attendees able to get in before the shutdown got an early glimpse of what VR tech may bring in the future.

According to a blog post translated by The Next Web, the authorities had to step in and shut the festival down early due to fears of overcrowding. The reporter attempted to gain access, but with the scrambling masses and overcrowded streets, it was impossible to enter before the show closed.

The exhibits inside the show were interesting, to say the least. One demonstration involved a user placing their hand in a cardboard box, where fans would blow air in a way to simulate the feeling of touching a breast. Another was an inflatable female torso, designed to accompany a game played on a VR headset. A third was a sort of robot contraption that … gives the player a hand.

@Gil Oren's been saying it for awhile, I guess the porn industry will be a huge catalyst for VR.

Disney, Comcast Pour Cash In Virtual Reality As 'Netflix Of VR' Looms
You're sitting courtside, close enough to that glossy NBA hardwood floor to high-five your favorite player. Look left, look right at the roaring crowd, and bask in the knowledge that your seat should normally cost thousands of dollars.

But you're not in a maxed-out arena. Instead, the experience is taking place in the sun-bathed lobby of NextVR's Laguna Beach, Calif., office, where you feel like you're watching a basketball game from inside your television.

This is the new wave of virtual reality. Not the clunky, pixelated virtual reality of yore, but one of live-streamed sports events, 360-degree news segments and interactive movie trailers in high definition that industry insiders say will deliver dazzling moments. So you can bet that old-school media heavies -- already beset by cord-cutting woes and the rise of streaming-entertainment leaders Netflix (NFLX) and Amazon (AMZN) -- want in on the action, which Digi-Capital estimates could be a $30 billion market by 2020.

And despite no guarantees that virtual reality will have staying power as a new medium, the threat of losing more tech-savvy millennial viewers seems very real, giving Walt Disney (DIS), Comcast (CMCSA), Time Warner (TWX) and others a serious case of FOMO -- a Fear Of Missing Out.

Right now this really looks like a next big thing. Even though the actual technology is quite raw yet, what really inspires me about VR is market sentiment towards it, which is quite positive and eager. And whenever there is demand - there will be supply.

If that is true I will be upgrading to iPhone 7 Pro. Also I will be a happy camper as I am currently holding some calls on both AMD and AAPL. :D

Still not convinced. Seeing all the VR devices popping up lately Apple will really have to outshine themselves to sell another iPhone on VR feature to me.

Intel announces Project Alloy, an all-in-one VR headset
Moving one step beyond Samsung's Gear VR, Intel just announced Project Alloy, an all-in-one VR headset that doesn't need to be connected to a phone or computer. Yes, that means it's completely wireless, with its own processor and battery. Alloy can also track rooms on its own, and it tracks your fingers for interacting with virtual objects. There's also a camera that lets you see other objects in your room, as well as nearby people. It's part of Intel's push around "merged reality," which combines both VR and augmented reality into a single cohesive experience.
