Hello friends, as some of you may know, I am an absolute sports nut and have been involved in sports betting for a number of years now. First through local bookies, but now through the large brokers now that my state has legalized sports betting (Arizona) The purpose of this thread, each week, is to post my sports picks for the upcoming week.
NFL Picks- Week 10 Cowboys (-8) over Atlanta (Game in Dallas) Indianapolis (-10) over Jacksonville (Game in Indy) and UNDER 47.5 ... 2 Pick Parlay Cleveland (+2.5) over New England (Game in Foxboro) Buffalo (-13.0) over Jets (Game in New York) and OVER 47.5... 2 Pick Parlay Tampa Bay (-10) over Washington (Game in DC) and UNDER 51... 2 Pick Parlay Cardinals (-10) over Carolina (Game in Phoenix, AZ) and OVER 43 ... 2 Pick Parlay Chargers (-3) over Vikings (Game in San Diego) Denver (-1.5) over Philadelphia (Game in Denver) and OVER 45.5... 2 Pick Parlay Green Bay (-3.5) over Seattle (Game in Green Bay) Kansas City (-2.5) over Vegas Raiders (Game in Vegas) and UNDER 52... 2 Pick Parlay Happy Slaying
I do a lot of college football and college basketball betting so it is hard to keep track of exactly how well my NFL picks did. I need to start making a spreadsheet and tracking my bets better. I ended up doing very well because I had 75$ on the Cowboys and 50$ on Michigan to beat Penn State. Unless I feel very good about a bet, I don't put more than 5$ down.
Week 11 Picks GreenBay (-1) over Minnesota in Minnesota ** (I dont know why I hate the Vikings so much but I have literally picked against them every single game) Bears to cover (+6.5) over Ravens @ Solider Field ** Titans (-10) over Houston in Tennessee Buffalo (-7) over Colts, game in Buffalo ** ... 3 pick parlay... -7.5, UNDER 50, Stefon Diggs TD Jacksonville (+7) over 49er's @ Jacksonville Browns (-12) over the Lions, game in Cleveland Panthers (-3) over Washington, game in Carolina Jets (+3.5) over Miami, Jets at home Eagles (-2.5) over the Saints, game in Philly Bengals (-1.5) over the Raiders @ Vegas ** Dallas (+2.5) over Chiefs, game in KC ** Moneyline AND 9-pick Parlay, Zeke TD, Alternate Spread (-2.5), Tyreek Hill TD, CeeDee Lamb over 55 yards receiving, Dalton Schultz over 30 yards receiving, Zeke over 5 yards receiving, Cowboys first to 10pts, first to 15pts, and first to 20pts. Cardinals (-1.5) over Seattle, game in Seattle ** Chargers (-5.5) over Pittsburgh, in LA Buccaneers (-11) over Giants, game in Tampa ** represents games I have wagers on.
I hit a nice Parlay last night. Buccaneers (-10.5), UNDER 50.5, Chris Godwin to score a TD, Chris Godwin over 57.5 Yards, and Tampa Bay to score the games first TD. $4 paid out 50$ I generally only bet 3-10$ on each game depending on how confident I feel so the Buccaneers game covered all my wagers for the entire weekend. I messed up that first bet. I actually took Minnesota over GreenBay. (Bet 20$, Won 25$) I bet at Halftime of this game. Lost the Cowboys game but picked up nice winnings on Cardinals, Eagles, Bengals, 49er's, and Bears.
Week 12 Predictions and Wagers Bears (-3.5) over Lions ** ... I am taking the Bears but something about this matchup makes me nervous. Could see the Lions get their first Win of the season here. Cowboys (-7) over Vegas Raiders ** .. Really like Dallas to rebound following the loss to the Chiefs. Buffalo (-4.5) over New Orleans ** ... This is my LOCK of the Week. Think Buffalo wins by at least 7. Bengals (-4.5) over Pittsburgh **.. Bengals are strong. This will be a good matchup and a tossup. Buccaneers (-2.5) over Colts ** Panthers (-1.5) over Dolphins ** .. Will be a good game and I could see Miami winning but I am riding Cam Newton and Christian McCaffery Titans (+5.5) over New England ** .. Might be a bad pick here but I like Tennessee's defense to shut down the Patriots. Should be a low scoring, defensive battle. Philly (-3) over Giants ... Both teams are garbage but Philadelphia is the better of the two. Falcons (-1) over Jacksonville ** .. This is a toss-up but I am riding with the Falcons Jets (+2.5) over Houston ** ... 2 Pick Parlay here. I like the Jets and a high scoring game, OVER 43.5 Chargers (-2.5) over Denver ** Rams (+1) over GreenBay ** ... Rams are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. GreenBay is dangerous coming off a loss and at Home but I am taking the LA Rams Vikings (+3) over 49er's ** ... Another toss-up game but I am going to ride Dalvin Cook and the Vikings for another week. Browns (+4) over Baltimore ** .. Betting with my heart rather than my head on this but I love the Brownies. Will all come down to how well Baker Mayfield plays. In College Football we are heading into Rivalry Weekend with some great match-ups highlighted by #2 Ohio State vs. #6 Michigan with the winner locking up a spot in the Big 10 Championship Game and likely a College Football Playoff spot. Cincinnati looking to finish the season 12-0 and their first College Football Playoff appearance in school history. This season is a great example for why the playoffs should be expanded from 4 teams to 8. Notre Dame (10-1), Oklahoma (10-1), and Michigan (10-1) are currently sitting just outside the Top 4 positions.
I am minimally familiar with parlays. The one parlay I am minimally familiar with is when you bet a group of games and you get a little extra margin on the spread. How does a parlay where you bet the spread and the over/under work? I like the write up! When I was a kid, I loved loved loved watching sports but was warned by my uncle...when you get older, the only way you watch sports is if you have money on the game. I no longer make my weekend schedule around games; if I'm in the house, and if I'm not reading message boards, maybe I'll check out a game but I'd rather just watch the highlights already.
A parlay just makes it pay out more. Someone using BetMGM app last weekend hit a parlay. They bet $50, it was 15 legs, and it paid out like $1.3M To make it simple, IIRC, a normal bet of a spread usually is like bet $11, win $10. A parlay of a spread and over/under would be something like bet $10, win $26. So normally you'd have to bet $11 to win $10 on the spread, and bet $11 to win $10 on the over/under. You can see the increased payout combined with lower cost of entry. However, if one leg loses, you lose the whole thing.
That only came to mind after I posted. Thanks for the explanation. I think I might have gotten a teaser confused with a parlay.
