Berlin is scheduled to open in December. Austin is scheduled to open in January.

Both a few months later than I predicted. I wonder if the 4680 conversions have delayed things. It doesn't appear so but we may learn, at some point.

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but.... lol!.... Porsche battery problems are all but invisible, despite the majority of Taycans needing the entire pack replaced. Ford has had terrible battery problems, also. These things aren't mentioned in the news.

And yet, if a Tesla were to catch fire tomorrow, it would consume a considerable amount of media bandwidth.

Speaking of bullshit, the Porsche Taycan qualifies for a $7500 incentive while no Tesla vehicles qualify.

You don't see a difference between battery life versus a car on fire?

So much of what we read is a fantasy intended to manipulate. It's refreshing to read an honest interview with Stellantis CEO, Carlos Tavares.

I've been really impressed with Stellantis and how they turned Chrysler around. As much as I like Stellantis management, the reality is they are building a fleet of non self driving internal combustion vehicles.

Ford have been clowns. They are making an effort in the EV space with the Mach-E that appears to be helpful but I have no expectations of Ford surviving the next 20 years.

GM seems to have done the most to prepare themselves for a transition to EV but their relationship with Nikola causes me to dismiss the competence of their management. I really hope I am wrong, with regard to GM's lack of ability to objectively manage their business.

Meanwhile, at Volkswagen, we are seeing 60% failure rate of battery packs in the Taycan. I predicted long ago their strategy to start with faster charging than Tesla would get them in trouble. You don't decide to take up running and enter an olympic sprint the next day. This strategy has been costly in many ways but it may have been worth it, as it took a very small bit of thunder from Tesla.

Lucid's stunt to produce the Dream Edition - Air with 500 mile range seems to have paid off. They still aren't in volume production and the media are reporting it as the only 500 mile EV. Tesla S Plaid owners must laugh, every time they read of Lucid's range break through.

Perhaps the take away from this is just how fundamentally dishonest the western business world is and how ignorant retail investors are. We still have a ton of people who think big auto just hasn't noticed that the world is electrifying cars and the old guard will dominate, once they put the smallest effort into it. This causes me to have confidence in my ability to out perform the market. I may not be the smartest guy but there are legions of dumb people volunteering to give away their money.

80,000 years ago, a young cave man wanted to do some coitus with a cave girl. The girl's father grunted, "If you come near my daughter, I will hunt you down and kill you."

Being an enterprising young paleolith, he went to work creating a way to go faster than the girl's father. Ultimately, he used his invention to carry his conquest to the nearest McDonalds, parked his wheeled cart beside a brontosaurus, went in, and ate some cheap but really lousy food.

    Meanwhile in Berlin....

I've been watching cell manufacturing equipment being delivered to the new cell structure for several days. Today, video from the structure reveals a lot less equipment than I expected and none of it is set up or configured.

It would appear we are still some months from cell manufacturing but this will not stop Giga Berlin from producing cars this month, with imported batteries.

Rivian just won Motortrend's Truck of the Year award.

From the same people who declared GM's Supercruise to be superior to Tesla's AutoPilot.

It sounds like GM will ship the Hummer EV shortly. That should solidify their lead of the EV industry which is currently held by their 1500 Bolt sales per month.

Rivian stock taking a hit after mentioning they are having production problems. Investors are probably scared they will fall from their peak of 2 cars per day.

This is a bit of a let down after their motor trend truck of the year crown.
