I have a Pretty Busy Earnings Week Upcoming for the Week of May 2nd, 2022. The Following Companies that I Have Positions in Will be Reporting Their Earnings Results This Week: HLT (Hilton Worldwide Holdings, INC.) PARA (Paramount Global) ABNB (Airbnb, INC.) APA Corporation NCLH (Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, LTD.) RCL (Royal Caribbean Cruises, LTD.) A Lot of Companies in the Travel Sector will be Reporting this Week. The Outlook on Travel is Bright In My Opinion. I Will Mainly Be Focused on my Material Holdings, which are: APA, ABNB, PARA and NCLH. -IndependentCandy14
I Made a Contribution to my Portfolio This Morning. Here’s How Today’s Contribution was Split Up: 85% VTI (Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund) 15% AAPL (Apple, INC.) I Am Usually Not a Market Timer and Go All In When I Have the Funds Available, as I have Plenty of Time in the Markets. However, Today, I have Kept Some Funds on the Sidelines due to the Volatility of this Market we are Currently In. The Markets were Looking for Direction this Morning, and As of Now, They Seem to be Trending Upwards. The Markets will Determine if I make a Second Contribution Today, or One Later in the Week. Will the Fed Throw a Curve Ball and Increase Rates Higher than Expected? We Will Know the Answer on Wednesday. -IndependentCandy14
I Was in the Green Today. Nevertheless, I Still Got Beat by the S&P Index Today. I Got Beat by Exactly 0.06%. Some Notable Gainers Today were: PARA (Paramount Global) SOFI (SoFi Technologies, INC.) LOW (Lowe’s Companies, INC.) PLTR (Palantir Technologies, INC.) Not One Position Lost more than 1% Today. Today Was a Very Volatile Day with the Markets Looking for Direction All Day. With a “Flick of a Switch” The Markets Roared Back after 15:00 Market Time. LoL. -IndependentCandy14
I Added a New Company to my Watchlist this Afternoon. CHGG (Chegg, INC.) CHGG is in the Business of Providing Educational Services and Materials to Students in College. CHGG Reported Earnings this Afternoon. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/c...ars-after-annual-forecast-chopped-11651523996 First Quarter Earnings Estimates Met or Beat Analyst Expectations. The Stock Has Taken a Massive Dump on the Forward Guidance Issued. As Always, Forward Guidance is Much more Important than Beating Earnings Estimates. *Photo Source: Yahoo Finance App iPad. CHGG is Down ~31% After Hours. I Have Never Invested in CHGG, But it Caught my Eye Last November 2021 when it Took a ~50% Haircut. CHGG Has Not Been this Low Since Early 2018. Here is a Little Snippet from the Article I Posted Above: “Students continue to take fewer classes and those they do take are often less rigorous, with fewer or more limited assignments. With higher wages and increased cost of living, more people are shifting their priorities towards earning over learning, resulting in a lower course load, or delaying enrollment in school at this time,” Rosensweig planned to say in a conference call Monday, for which remarks were disseminated with the earnings information. “In the U.S. alone, we have seen approximately 1 million students forgo or postpone higher education over the last two years. The impact of these factors is evident in the reduced traffic to higher education support services. This has made forecasting at this time challenging, and while we expect many of these trends to be temporary, we are reducing our guidance to better reflect the current market conditions.” I Agree with the CEO’s Statement Above that these Trends are Temporary. I May Open a Small Position in CHGG after the “Dust” Settles. I think it can be a Great Long Term Winner at these Prices. Students, and the Younger Generation will Eventually Return to College as Education is Important and Can Open a Wide Range of Opportunities. Not Everyone is Going to be the Next Great Businessman or Woman, or the Next Genius Inventor. And Honestly, Not Everyone is Capable of Owning Their Own Business. Obtaining a College Degree Puts People in Front of the Line when Compared to Someone with Just a High School Diploma. It is also a Proven Fact that People Who Go to College Simply Earn a Higher Income than those Who Haven’t. Obviously Exceptions Apply. Once Again, these are Just my Opinions. I will be Sure to Report Back on my Investing Thread if, or when I Do Open a Position in CHGG. CHGG Could be a Decent Swing Trade, or IMO be an even Better Long Term Hold at these Valuations. -IndependentCandy14
PARA (Paramount Global), A Hefty Position of Mine, will Report their Quarterly Results Before the Bell Tomorrow Morning. I Will be Focusing on the Subscriber Numbers as Most Investors in PARA probably will. It Would be A Great Feat if PARA Climbs over 68-70M Subscribers. Realistically 65M would Be Nice to See. Let See How they Report. PARA has About the Same Revenues as Netflix but Trades at a Much Much Smaller Multiple. PARA PE Ratio is 4.36 while Netflix is Now at 17.75. PARA Also Pays a Hefty Dividend. Its Yield is Currently 3.3%. Netflix Does Not Pay a Dividend. Netflix’s Growth Seems to have Stalled While it Seems As if PARA is Still Growing. IMO, PARA also has Superior Content to Netflix. PARA has Multiple Streaming Services, Big Time Sporting Events including the NFL Playoffs, The Masters Tournament, and NCAA March Madness Basketball, and All Around Better Shows and Movies. I Am Not Positive that PARA Beat Earnings Estimates this Quarter as they Missed Last Quarter. But I Do Believe, the Report and Forward Guidance Won’t be a Blunder to the Extent that Netflix Was. PARA Suffered Greatly Last Month because it is in the Same Sector as Netflix, and to me that was not Justifiable as the Two Companies Do Not Come Close in Valuation when you look at their Financials. Either PARA has a lot more room to Climb, or Netflix a lot more room to Fall. LoL. Regardless of what happens tomorrow with PARA’s Share Price, I will Continue to Hold, Barring any News from Left Field that Is Not Expected. -IndependentCandy14
A Busy Earnings Day for me Today. PARA (Paramount Global). Mixed. HLT (Hilton Worldwide Holdings, INC.). Mixed. ABNB (Airbnb, INC.). Beat. I Haven’t had the Chance to Get into the Nitty Gritty Details Yet. Busy Day at the Office. I Will Report Back with my Findings Later On. -IndependentCandy14
I Beat the S&P Index Today. By 0.22% to be Exact. The Oil & Energy Sector and Real Estate Sector Outperformed Today for me. -IndependentCandy14
I Made a Contribution to my Portfolio Today After the Fed Minutes were Released, before the Pop in the Markets. Here’s How Today’s Contribution was Split Up: 59% VTI (Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund) 17% PARA (Paramount Global) 12% NCLH (Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, LTD.) 12% AMD (Advance Micro Devices, INC.) AMD is a New Position that I Started Today. Here are the Details for Todays Purchases: Market Time: 14:40-14:45. Prices: VTI: $211.95 PARA: $29.70 NCLH: $19.69 AMD: $95.66 -IndependentCandy14
A Big Day for the S&P Index Today, Gaining 2.99%. I Beat the S&P by 0.70%. Notable Movers Today: SoFi Gaining 11.56% Exxon and APA both hit new 52 week highs today, Gaining 3.98% and 6.30% Respectively. APA Corporation Reported their Quarterly Results this Afternoon. After Hours, the Stock has been Under Pressure. -IndependentCandy14
Wow Was Today the Polar Opposite of Yesterday. I Got Beat by the S&P Index Today by 0.61% All Around, a Terrible Day in the Markets. Not One Material Position was in the Green Today. -IndependentCandy14
I Made a Contribution to my Portfolio Today. Market Time for These Buys was 15:13. Here is How Today’s Contribution was Split Up: 57% VTI (Vanguard Today Stock Market Index Fund) Market Price: $204.53 23% PARA (Paramount Global) Market Price: $27.73 20% SOFI (SoFi Technologies, INC.) Market Price: $6.395 -IndependentCandy14
I GOT BEAT BIG TIME BY THE S&P INDEX TODAY. I Lost to the S&P By 0.91% Today. Under My Own Portfolio Management, I would I Have Met or BEAT the S&P Today. MY LOSS Today Was Due to the Incompetence of My “Financial Advisor” My “Financial Advisors” Portfolio Lost 1.35% today Compared to the S&P Loss of 0.57% My Dumb Advisor Still Has me In Foreign and Chinese Stocks Even Though I told Him Not to Invest In that Garbage. His Philosophy is Diversify. He will a Take 0.75% Fee on Assets Under Management Regardless of my Portfolios Performance. I am Sorry, But I DO NOT WANT TO DIVERSIFY IN CHINA! Or any other Foreign Entities. My “Financial Advisor” is Pushing MY BUTTONS. I AM ABOUT TO TAKE ALL MY MONEY FROM HIM AND INVEST IT IN VTI. -IndependentCandy14
i Have Some Big Positions Releasing Earning Reports Next Week. I Will Be on a Hiatus as all of us Need Some Time Off. SPG, PLTR, SOFI, NCLH will be Reporting Earnings Next Week and I Will Not Be Around for Them. I Am Also Not Worried About Any of These Investments. Stay Invested, and Keep Buying the Dip My Fellow Stockaholics Friends! -IndependentCandy14
Howdy & Good Afternoon Fellow Stockaholics! I am Back, after Nine Days of Disconnecting from the World! I Sure did Pick a Great Week to be Away from my Portfolio Last week. Today, I am Getting a Taste of What Y’all Felt Like Last Week. LoL. It Looks like the S&P Index is Still Hovering About 2% Higher Today than Last Weeks Lows. -IndependentCandy14
My Portfolio Lost About 3% Last Week While I was Away. I Do Not Have Any Comparisons Against the S&P for Last Week. This Post will Get me Up to Date for this Week for my Comparison Against the S&P Index. Monday May 16th, 2022: A Red Day for Me and the S&P Index. The S&P Beat me By 0.03%. I’ll take it. LoL.
