Disney is now toxic to many, Nike is toxic to many, Netflix is toxic to many. This is the country we now live in. Let's not act like it's only on one side of the aisle. All these companies are big enough to survive. Tesla is not spellbound to California. It's scale is still limitless and the vast majority of Americans agree with Elon Musk and are not extremists in either direction.

As a Tesla shareholder I will have to take the good with the bad of having an outspoken CEO, but let's face it Tesla is what it is because of Elon not despite Elon.

Well said. He is not the arbiter of public discourse. He is a very good CEO and businessman. Elon needs to shut the hell up already and stay in his own lane.

I'm not sure I would put these companies in the same boat as the pillow guy. I'll leave the politics out of it, but the differences are pretty obvious.

You guys act like Elon Musk being outspoken is anything new, come on now, the guy smoked weed on Joe Rogan's show in 2018. The opinions he has been expressing pretty much echo the current sentiment in this country. Tesla will be fine. Nothing erratic or crazy about anything he is saying despite what a certain segment wants you to believe.

Yeah Tesla will be fine, they still have a huge head start on the competition and it will be a good 5yrs until we see serious competition.

However there is the matter of public perception when it comes to brands.

Can you tell me how the CEO of Toyota feels about abortion?

Can you tell me how the CEO of Ford feels about gay marriage?

I have no clue, I see nothing political about Toyota or Ford, but can the same be said about Tesla?

Its always cool when somebody popular turns out to be cheering for your preferred team. The bias confirmation is most pleasing, but there is a reason most CEO's keep quiet on these issues.

Disney hurt you feelings? Dont go to Disney.

Netflix showing too much woke content, unsubscribe.

Tesla CEO crying about lefty wokeism? Go buy a competing EV.

None of these things are good for actual business, and your team "winning" does not sell more EV's, it does the opposite.

I've been waiting on a entry since the mid 900s. Tweet baby tweet, patience paid off. TSLA always recovers. At $ 644.54 and a forward split being approved is very possible, I'm happy. Hell I'm fixing to smoke some 420 in celebration of our favorite CEO.

I couldn’t tell you Elon’s views on abortion or gay marriage either so I fail to see your point.

When a businessman is outspokenly pro capitalism Is it a bad thing? His opinions seem to be mostly from a business perspective. Is he tweeting much on social/religious issues? I would venture his opinions on social issues would alienate more on the right than the left.

Seems like all this backlash is from the twitter purchase. Did it hurt Amazon and Bezos when he purchased the Washington Post? How many right wingers have dropped Amazon from their portfolio?

Elon Musk supports freedom of speech, the horror!!!!!

He has been crying about lefty wokeism hurting his feelings for weeks now.

    You do see the point.

Nobody said that it was bad.

I have no idea, but I dont recall Bezos tweeting every day about how horrible conservatives are, so theres that. Maybe I just dont see Bezos twitter feed, but I have not seeing him stoke the fire to get two sides fighting over issues on twitter. Feel free to correct me if Im wrong.

You can't honestly believe that angle do you?

Freedom of speech means you can protest outside the white house with a "Lets Go Brandon" sign and not get arrested.

Freedom of speech does not apply to things you post online on platforms not owned and operated by the government.

This went to the supreme court already and they ruled that the baker does not need to provide service to the gay couple.

I’m not going to have a debate with you on the definition of free speech. Let’s just say Musk is purchasing twitter because the company itself and it’s previous ceo did exactly what you are speaking about by alienating half the population. Maybe this should be on the Twitter thread.

Musk has simply said he has been a lifelong Democrat and now the party is becoming too far extreme left, anti-capitalism for him. Doesn’t seem like a very erratic viewpoint to me. Saying he is railing on how horrible democrats are is completely out of context.

I think we are starting to stray off base, but to
sum it up I’ll say that Elon Musk has always been an outspoken ceo and this is nothing new under the sun except now he is possibly purchasing one of the biggest influencer companies in America and the world. With that move he may be making some very powerful enemies. That is my main concern. How that impacts Tesla remains to be seen. The company itself is doing great!

I think the problem is, "can no longer support Democrats, will vote Republicans".

This is a bit specific. Also, I suspect the majority of Tesla owners are Democrat leaning since Republicans know environmentalism is an affront to God.

I don't think anyone cares about his feuds with various legislators and governing bodies. I doubt too many care how he votes, either. The problem is he selected a side and is vocal about it.

Someone hit the nail on the head. It isnt that Elon has opinions, it is that the Liberal Media/ Mainstream Media drool and publicize every word he tweets because they are desperate to attract viewers and they know Elon is an extremely polarizing figure. It's all brainwashing.

Elon is a great visionary and he now has sufficient resources to pursue whatever he wishes. I believe he will be successful.

I sold in AH made 20 bucks a share. I still get nervous holding long these days. Only takes a minute to become a losing position. For now cash is safer than holding red positions.

You dont have to, because the definition is very clear and its NOT about being able to say things on privately owned platforms on the internet.

Thing is, it is an erratic viewpoint because last I checked, the libs didn't storm the capital and try overturn an election because they didn't like the results.

Musk was not crying about anti-capitalism when Obama created the electric vehicle tax credit. How the hell is that fair to the Ford's and GM's of the world when Obama is basically giving you free money to go buy a car from Elon Musk?

Mark my words, give it 10-15 days and watch him walk back his comments as the backlash from remarks takes a toll on the price of his stock.

In the mean time, Hyundai is getting into the game:

I will never understand the push to make companies like FB and Twitter bend to political pressure in the name of "Freedom of Speech". Everyone agrees to their TOU when they make an account. Everyone is aware they are private companies. All data is stored on their private servers. Say or do something they do not like and get blocked or banned? Tough shit! If one does not like it, one can make their own platform.

True, but I was not specifically referring to him. I was referring to the throngs of hypocrites who scream censorship when things do not go their way online. It cuts both ways, but at the moment one group is being the far bigger crybaby.

    For sure.

There is almost no room for interpretation of what free speech is. You either have free speech or you do not.

I'm comfortable with limitations, such as not being able to threaten someone's life, but they should be few, specific, and clearly spelled out. After that, open that pie hole and shout at the top of your lungs....
