Call buyers pile into AMD before earnings Advanced Micro Devices is attracting upside option activity ahead of quarterly results this week. optionMONSTER's market scanner shows that about 10,700 August 6.50 calls were purchased for $0.17 to $0.20 yesterday. This represents new positions, as there was no open interest in the strike before the day began. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/call-buyers-pile-amd-earnings-142230510.html
Considering the big pop yesterday on high volume and pulling back today on much lower volume is a good sign especially considering the market conditions. The 5.40 to 5.50 range would be a good range going into earnings. I is best not to be overbought if Lisa Su delivers the goods. Canaccord Bullish on Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. It looks like some of us overhyped RX-480 a little. From what I've heard Nvidia's GTX 1060 represents 'everything AMD wanted the RX 480 to be' and even beats it in perfomance. Are we allowed to post links to other websites here? Like to techpowerup.com, for example (whose quote I just used).
Of course you Clair and it is best to provide a link to the news, review or whatever the website is stating

Shorts See Bullish Post-Earnings Trading Performance from AMD AMD is expected to report Q2 results after the close Thursday, July 21. The analyst mean estimate on Capital IQ is for a loss of $0.08 per share on $951.3 million in revenue. AMD is an issue that shorts watch closely off quarterly results. The stock has recorded an earnings-driven upside move in the after-hours in 22 of the last 48 quarters we've tracked over the last 12 years. In 15 of those quarters, it has seen its after-hours gain reverse or narrow the following regular session, or 68% of the time. In the 26 quarters where AMD has recorded an evening decline, it added to that downside move during the following day's trading session 17 times, or 65% of the time. On April 21, 2016, AMD soared 23.6% in after-hours trade after topping Q1 estimates. The stock vaulted higher the next day, closing the April 22 regular session up 52.3%. The rubber meets the road today with earnings after the bell. Doing my DD the earnings should show some increased market share, and revs. Estimate is (0.08) with a whisper of (0.07) If Lisa Su delivers it should be a short squeeze, if not down she goes. What is odd with AMD 3.42 % the July 22 $6 calls are only down 2 cents Good luck longs
AMD's Q2'16 Earnings Preview: Strong Semi-Custom & GPU Demand To Fuel Growth AMD is set to report its Q2 2016 earnings on July 21st. Despite reporting a 19% and 33% year-over-year decline in its Q1 2016 revenue and non-GAAP earnings per share, respectively, the company’s stock price has surged by more than 100% in the last three months. We do believe that the company could see a turnaround in revenue growth in the second half of the year, but we feel that the growth drivers do not fully justify the significant increase in stock price. (Read: What Caused The Sudden Surge In AMD’s Stock Price? Why We Believe The Market May Have Over-Reacted) Even though AMD is making considerable progress on its strategy to improve its business by gaining share in the graphics and PC markets, growing its semi-custom business and expanding into the data center market, it continues to incur losses. Good read Why Bulls and Bears Are Both Heavily Anticipating AMD Earnings http://247wallst.com/technology-3/2...s-are-both-heavily-anticipating-amd-earnings/
This is interesting as the AMD is getting pounded down over 5% and the July 22nd $6 calls are down 1 cent @.09 on 1,516 calls with buying @.10 about 20 minutes ago .08X.10. That is a lot of money do put down on a needed 15% pop to get in the money on one day of trading. As I type calls for .10
TTT, good observation. I picked up 80 JUL 22 $6 calls for $0.08 earlier in the day, despite the falling price, I am still in green.
