What are you Eyeing? 140s? I was close to pulling the trigger today on my swing trade shares. Basically at the two year low today. -IndependentCandy14
If you are eying TSLA and can see it thriving with Elon on shrooms now, pull the trigger now and be done with it.
I'm not taking a long position until the dust settles. For now I'm going with the short term sentiment, today's move was great on the downside " puts printed nicely" I don't hold overnight though. P/E is getting to more attractive levels and we have earnings due next month. Cleaning house at tweeter was a smart move that eliminated a ton of deadweight and opening up the files was another major step forward. For now it's created some collateral damage to Tesla's share price and created the perfect scenario to the shortside. IMO now is not the time to go long, at least not for me.
In 2018-2019, when every story on Tesla was a hit piece, I tripled my shares. An objective person could tell the negative stream of coverage was relentless. Plus, stories from multiple sources often contained the same phrasing. It was a Jim Chanos echo chamber. I knew that at the time. I believed Elon was honest and nearly every media source was dishonest. That belief turned out to be somewhat profitable. I no longer believe everything from Elon. That is not to say I think he lies freely but I believe he has lost some of his perspective on reality. Of course, this is opinion, not fact.
This poor kid means well, much like the chihuahua nipping at your ankles. Obnoxious but basically harmless. I find it amusing that he feels the need to make himself look foolish on a daily basis. He wants to be a big dog so bad it's eating him alive. Give the kid a etch a sketch and he claims a PhD in graphic arts. Go tiger go. I say his mental capacity is far from diminished. Tweeter is his toy and he obviously is outspoken, at the end of the day it's simply another well planned chess move. Especially with the new tax rate. While some are screaming for a Tesla boycott others are on the sidelines waiting to pounce. There is a saying that one monkey don't hold up the show. In this case the whining liberals that got eliminated from the payroll are simply the monkeys without a show. You've followed Tesla enough to know competition was always expected and welcomed, the competition has been forced to aquire billions in debt to enter a game of uncharted territory. Tesla is accustomed to being slapped around. Short term will drop the price which lowers the P/E to even more attractive levels.
There seems to be a narrative that sodium-ion batteries are about to rock the ev world with 4x energy density improvement. I suspect these rumours are noise. It is well possible that BYD sees the potential to start producing SIB in late 2023 but that will be a best case scenario and does not mean they will be dropping LIB any time in the next several years. In order for a new battery chemistry to take over, massive amounts of testing and long term durability studies need to be done. High energy density almost invariably leads to massive expansion and anode cracking. Even if SIB turns out to be a great chemistry, it will undoubtedly require format changes to make a viable cell. I consider SIB to be comparable to articles on new cancer cures. The research is almost certainly real but the news is probably a distorted report that someone who does not understand the difficulty in productization has misrepresented. All in good time. At this point, structural lIthiumion packs are state of the art.
Put another way... There is going to be a ton of work to develop charge management, balancing, cell longevity, pack integration, etc. From what little I understand sodium chemistry, it is a multi-ion reaction so I would expect internal resistance to be reduced for faster charge time and more efficient charging. A LIB gets really hot when being charged at 4C (15m charge). There is something non-consentual about such an extreme charge rate. If SIB has sufficiently lower resistance, it *may* be a key to allowing 15 or 20m charge times without the need for active cooling. When a Model 3 is charging at 250KW rate, it is dumping heat at an extreme rate. A Model 3 or Y can only take 250KW for a short period of time. It starts slow and ramps slowly. It only remains at peak for a couple of minutes and then ramps down quickly before the pack is at 80% charge. Perhaps SIB will allow for longer sustain of the max rate with less cooling. Tesla has patented (but never implemented) a charging technique that involves driving over a cooling system embedded in the parking spot and connecting to an external cooling loop. That is how much heat needs to be dumped. Cells with lower internal resistance would make fast charging a whole lot easier. I just don't think it's a matter of sprinkling some table salt on a roll of aluminum foil and rolling it up.... It's going to require some smart dudes to do a lot of integration work *after* the cells have been stable and proven for a while.
52 Week Low. Stock is Broken. Massive Rally Cannot Even Help It. Happy I am Waiting Patiently for My Swing Trade Shares. -IndependentCandy14
Tesla delivered over 100K units in November, from the Giga Shanghai plant. Giga Shanghai employees suggest the Reuters and Bloomberg are full of crap, with regard to the 20% production cut and lack of demand. I give the production cut a 10% probability of being factual. More likely, Giga Shanghai will finish the year with another month producing over 100K vehicles. Tesla's news trajectory has been very insightful of the greasy whore show that is contemporary news. They will make false claims for years, without substantiation, and then just quietly pretend they always knew things were OK. Now they seem to be attempting another attack cycle. Perhaps they think Tesla is weakened by the Twitter chronicles. I believe there are about half a dozen big interests with the ability to plant any content they want in essentially all major news outlets. If they can create enough FUD to get TSLA below Elon's margin call threshold, perhaps they can cause a run on the stock. I wouldn't dismiss their ability to do it but I certainly will not be placing bets on current events.
Control the narrative is a powerful tool that is very effective in steering the fools. Human nature has a fear of the unknown.Contrary to popular belief, News moves the markets.
Relentless misinformation from late 2017 to 2021 definitely had an impact on Tesla's market cap until the end of 2019 when the market finally figured out that nothing the news had said in two years had been truthful and started ignoring them. Tesla then jumped into the stratosphere like an empty Falcon 9 rocket. I recall a Squawk Box segment in late 2019 during which they talked about how crazy the market was behaving, with regard to Tesla, in that negative news seemed to be triggering a positive market response. They presented it with incredulity. At that point in late 2019, I had been behaving contrary to the news for two years. lol!
This is where it gets tricky, most traders use tight stops and there is tons of bulls on the sidelines waiting to pounce. Obviously we know the board is not going to go against Elon and anyone that has common sense realizes the share price is at very attractive levels. One tweet of a share buyback will send it SpaceX. To me it's another well planned chess move. When they realize their nothing burger is beyond meat, reality will once again separate the fools from the money.
You have far more trading skill than I do, Spud. I bought in 2016, added a second tranche in 2019, and sold in 2021. I'm painting barns, not portraits. lol!
Is there any place that measures pending orders, or any metric we can use to see how demand for new Teslas is going?
As far as I know, they haven't publicly shared the order queue for years. A few guys scrape the Tesla owners forum and post production dates to reddit and other places. That is the best data we have. Again, as far as I know. So, if someone posts in the forum they just ordered a 3 and expected delivery is on 5 weeks, that is the water mark for that model. I don't have access to that forum and I've been on vacation for some time so I have no insight into the production queue.
Got the bulls on the eye. Had to pull my Birth Certificate in case I need to prove citizenship, the liberals are grasping straws out of desperation and so the story goes. ANY vacancies on Camano Island for a experienced outdoorsman and amateur pilot.
