I "heard" that the consumer confidence reading came in better than expected. Of course....there is NOTHING I can find about this so far. The media has little interest in a positive story. They are so predictable.

WOW....breaking news.....silver just broke $100 per OZ for the first time ever.

AMAZING.....I would have never predicted this a few years ago.....not that I really care.

When I was driving to DALLAS to drop off an exhibit painting the friend that I was driving with is a former VP at Merrill Lynch. We were talking about how crazy the metals are now and how all the publicity and recent gains are going to drive a lot of people to consider metal as an investment........many in their IRA.

NOT a good thing in my view. BUT....that is human nature.

Welcome to the world of......AI. This has been a trend across many big companies for a few years now. They are talking about nearly.....30,000.....corporate jobs.

Amazon to cut thousands of jobs in sweeping corporate layoffs
Second wave of layoffs could begin next week, targeting nearly 10% of corporate workforce across AWS, retail and Prime Video divisions

The above is about it for me so far today. I am finding nothing much of any interest. So I guess I will just have to sit and enjoy the day....regardless of the markets.

Here in Central Texas we are seeing runs on grocery stores with the impending winter storm. What in the world is wrong with people? We are only talking about a 3-5 day event.

Where one of my kids lives on the outskirts of Austin.......people were abandoning their cars along the road to get into HEB. The parking lot and any other possible places to park were full.

Oh yes......I did finally find some content on "Consumer Confidence" buried in this general article about the markets today.

S&P 500 is little changed as Wall Street takes a breath after two-day rally

    https://www.cnbc.com/2026/01/22/stock-market-today-live-updates.html

Consumer outlook better than expected in December, survey shows

I dont care about this sort of survey......meaningless BS to investors.

    LETS MAKE SOME MONEY TODAY.

I just looked and I have a nice STRONG gain gong today. A single red stock....AAPL.

    SHOW ME THE MONEY.

The week that was. As of the end of the day today I am at....+0.09%...year to date...with my entire portfolio. Last week at this time my entire portfolio was at....+0.26%...year to date.

MOVING ON UP....even though I lost a little ground this week.

I first heard of this way back in the mid 1970's from a self employed business person. It became a mantra for me.......an eyeopener. A winning strategy along with long term investing. The best way to do this....set up an automatic investment with your broker where a set amount of money every month is deducted from your account and goes into a SP500 ETF.

What does it mean to ‘pay yourself first,’ and how does it work?
This financial strategy makes your savings a top priority.

“Pay yourself first” is a budgeting strategy that prioritizes savings and investments before anything else. The idea is to allocate a portion of your income to savings, retirement accounts, or investments as soon as you receive your paycheck, rather than saving whatever is left at the end of the month."

A BIG earnings week next week. ALTHOUGH.....so far the financial media seems to be acting like there are NO earnings happening. Very little coverage and whether good or bad they are simply being IGNORED. The media focus.....non-business news items that can be DRAMATIZED or FEAR-MONGERED.

Wednesday will be the BIG ONE.....with earnings from.....META, TSLA, MSFT, and AAPL.

Of course right on schedule.....like EVERY earnings period over the past five or more years.....the media focus will be on another story. This time around....the weather. It is always something......and....no doubt is INTENTIONAL. Even the financial and business media REFUSE to report on topics that should be top of the page stories for investors.

Earnings.....great....the FED meeting....who cares. They are not going to do anything as long as Powell is chair.

Big Tech earnings, Fed meeting feature as markets end January with busiest week of Q1

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/big-...siest-week-of-q1-what-to-watch-125211822.html

Although this article is pretty much a joke. About 1.5 paragraphs given to the big story of the week....way into the article. the rest is a rehash of last week and the typical media DRAMA topics of the moment. They even manage to drag out the old AI BUBBLE BS.

    98% of the article is on....."anything"....but earnings....typical.

A pretty good winter storm blowing through for some. Already through my area….left behind quite a bit of snow and cold, but no ice thankfully.

We are on to the end of January and earnings are in full swing.
