Yes, there are earnings going on. Although, they are clearly taking the backseat to the US/Iran conflict. For example, today is TSLA after the bell. No, not that I give a hoot about TSLA, but remember when the financial media was obsessed with this company. It was non stop coverage back in the day. Funny how Wall Street moves on to a new darling and how quickly something becomes irrelevant in the news. Not throwing shade at TSLA holders, just using it as an example. Anyway, some earnings. As mentioned previously. The markets are living/dying off the "tweets" between the two countries on a daily basis. Are they even called that anymore since moving to "X"? I suppose not, but I'm not social savvy on that type of thing. I find it odd that it is used so much to convey this type of thing and many other issues. I haven't got used to seeing it or the fact that it is used so incessantly. I'm a bit older so maybe that is just part of it. Not just the war in general, but literally anything policy or government related.
What our FRIEND CHINA is not allowing us to sell there? They are BANNING these chips since they already have more than they need to ILLEGALLY REVERSE ENGINEER. Nvidia has not yet sold its H200 AI chips to China, Lutnick says https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/technology/articles/nvidia-not-yet-sold-h200-153601793.html
A little deal for PLTR.....as they continue to take over the US government. Just kidding. USDA and Palantir sign $300 million software purchase agreement https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/technology/articles/usda-palantir-sign-300-million-135846683.html
I believe you are close to the mark. People who claim to understand the scope of Planatir are pretending something which they do not know.
No doubt what you say above TomB16...would apply to ALL AI. We have no clue where we are headed or what the end will be.
BUMMER for the FICO score business. FICO shares plunge as Fannie, Freddie, FHA move to accept alternative credit scores https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/r...cept-alternative-credit-scores-195259250.html How RIDICULOUS that we dont take this into account: "Both FICO and VantageScore 4.0 incorporate alternative data, like rental payment history, to help determine creditworthiness." I cant believe that there is an entire company existing from FICO scoring. No way I would ever invest in a company like this.
Good news for the USA. TSMC plans to open chip packaging plant in Arizona by 2029, executive says https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/technology/articles/tsmc-plans-open-chip-packaging-190139555.html It is INSANITY that we allowed all this sort of business to escape to China and Asia.
Hello and praying all is well. Question, wife had accident in my truck, so I am in need of another vehicle. Should I finance or sell some stocks to pay cash. What say ya'll, I realize that the decision is mine. Just wanted others opinion. Thanks
Depends on if you want to stay debt free or reduced debt. We usually buy cars at all cash....even if it means selling some stock. We prefer to be free of debt at our age. It does not bother me to sell stock for things like this. This is why you invest....to be able to do things that most people can not do. If you do cash in some stock.....you could always take the amount of the car payment and put it back in your account each month for what would have been the length of the car loan. AND....it is not a bad time to take some profit.....we are at or near ALL TIME HIGHS.....a perfect time to take some cash out.
I had a BIG GAIN today. Also a BEAT on the SP500 by 0.75%. I believe I am now at a new all time high......and pushing further into the green for 2026. COST...my one RED stock today. I need this RALLY to stick around for a few more weeks or better all of earnings season....I need a good cushion in my YTD gain.
The very nice market close today. S&P 500, Nasdaq close at records after U.S. extends Iran ceasefire https://www.cnbc.com/2026/04/21/stock-market-today-live-updates.html RALLY time....boys and girls. I am RIDING THE WAVE.....and fully invested for the long term as usual.
As always Mr. WXYZ, I really do appreciate and value your opinion. Thank you so much, I continue to read this thread regularly. I have gain so much insight over the years. Also, Thanks to all other posters. I appreciate you all.
We allowed it because it is one of the weaknesses of a pure growth driven economic model: Shortsightedness.
Very, very briefly hit an ATH in my account yesterday. YTD is now nearly 7%. A nice couple of weeks. Hope everyone is well
WELL DONE......LORI. I find anything that you, RG, and the other international posters put up very interesting. It is nice to see thinking outside the "USA BUBBLE".
