The general markets are showing MILD green across the board....due to this: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq rebound, oil prices reverse on hopes of a US-Iran peace deal https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/l...-hopes-of-a-us-iran-peace-deal-232311315.html
YEAH.....you dont see MUSK picking his businesses apart to create......"shareholder value". He is heading to the opposite.....a MUSK....conglomerate. The "shareholder value".....BS....does NOTHING but benefit "insiders" and executives. AND....the one-trick pony.... companies that are spun off or left over after the deals....are NEVER as financially stable or successful as the old conglomerate was. There is a HUGE amount of business power in having many income streams that all work together to create a stable company. Will Elon Musk eventually merge SpaceX with Tesla? Speculation is building https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/21/wil...rge-spacex-with-tesla-speculation-builds.html
Yeah, the media really needs to come up with a new line about all of these alleged "agreements/peace deals." What have we had, about 65 of these so far?? LOL. Anyway, a green end to the markets today. Tomorrow is TGIF and a short market week next week due to the long holiday weekend.
Haven't posted this in a while. Of course, it is the short-term and changes pretty regularly, but the hot top ten YTD. A small.....MEDIUM LOSS for my stocks today. And a loss to the SP500 by my stocks of....0.93%. My winners list is short....AMZN, AAPL, and PLTR.
After the past 10 or so NVDA earnings my mindset abut NVDA earnings day is....just get it over with and out of the way. It is WORTHLESS.
We start as another.....WASTED day.....post NVDA earnings. Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq advance despite US-Iran uncertainty as strong earnings season wraps https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/l...s-strong-earnings-season-wraps-223454086.html LOL....."strong earnings season".....tell that to all the companies that were PUNISHED FOR NICE EARNINGS BEATS. A strong earnings season .....does not matter.....if that happens.
REALLY. BUCK UP....people. The World Doesn’t Know You Feel Broke https://tonyisola.com/2026/05/the-world-doesnt-know-you-feel-broke/ ......"Here are some fun facts for those crying over their multi-millions. You’re in the top 1.6% of all humanity with a net worth of $1 million. That is equivalent to being in the top 60 million of a global adult population of 3.8 billion. The global wealth median is $8,800. Someone with a $2 million net worth has roughly 225x the wealth of a typical adult. In most countries the top 1% has a net worth of $1 million or less. Relative Deprivation is real. Comparing yourself to US tech billionaires is a loser’s game since they make up the top 0.001% of global net worth.".....
AND......the stock is DOWN....as usual. BUT....the markets are not BROKEN? NVIDIA's Profit Crown Jensen Huang just took the throne from Apple, at least in the US... https://spyglass.org/nvidia-profit/ ........"$53.5B in operating profit in the just-reported Q1 fiscal 2027 is the record holder, just beating out Apple's Q1 fiscal 2026 (which yes, is their most recent holiday quarter, and technically would have lined up with NVIDIA's Q4 fiscal 2026 – again, complicated) of $50.9B."..... THE HIGHEST COMPANY PROFIT IN.....HISTORY. BUT.....no one cares....even the stock markets that....."SUPPOSEDLY"...operates from fundamentals and business results. WELL....at least they used to.
At least ALL the big averages are currently GREEN. BUT.....the actual percentage gains of all of them are....MILD......and tentative.
LOL......the most meaningless, distorted, corrupt,...."POLL" in business. It is ridiculous that this is even a news story. Perhaps we should use the ACTUAL business results.....record breaking earnings....as the TRUE measure of.....consumer behavior. Consumer sentiment hits fresh record low in May as Iran war fuels inflation worries https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/22/con...-may-as-iran-war-fuels-inflation-worries.html Of course the MEDIA loves this sort of BS.
The LOSS in NVDA since May 14.....(-8.25%). AND.....down by $10 a share.....since the close just prior to earnings being reported. That is......DOWN BY TEN DOLLARS..... since the open yesterday. Dont tell me this is just short term and does not matter....that the long term is what matters. This short term CRAP in the markets is a HUGE DRAG....on even the long term. The current DOWN price...becomes the starting point......in a hole....as we progress into the medium and long term. If the markets were NOT BROKEN....we would be starting from here at least......$10 to $20.....or more.......higher. The LOWER starting point has a HUGE impact over the longer term.
The...CHIP-MAKERS....on fire today.....mostly. Qualcomm........+13%......$27.49. ARM.................+5%.....$14,78. NXP Semi.........+3.7%.....$10.98. ADVCD Micro....+4%.....$18.23. Marvell..............+3.3%.....$6.30. At least....someone....is benefiting from the NVDA earnings.
Sorry, but I have to. My point. I think we have to be cognizant of younger or maybe even newer investors. If the long-term does not matter, then there would really be no need to continue to develop and hold a long-term plan. Time tends to smooth the short term out. There are so many different companies and each sometimes has its own behavior. There are those with great volatility, some are slow, steady growers, and obviously some are just trash. Not everything is or turns out to be great. I'm not talking about NVDA, but in general overall terms. The gains over the long-term have been nothing short of magnificent. Sure, there are times when it is not fun and can be very trying to an investor. Time wins out in the long-term. Now, not every company is a winner as we all know, but in general the chart goes up. I'm not trying to be argumentative or disrespectful. The long-term investment plan is still the way to go. Yes, the short term is going to be unreasonable, volatile, and somewhat meaningless.
Here is a long-term return chart for the SP500. Looks pretty good to me. Some great returns on your investments. Some nasty times too.
