I am finding ZERO long term or investor content to post today. So on to the markets. It is a GREEN open but I dont see a lot of strength behind it. So the day is far from a sure thing. I am not sure the BIG CAP markets are as strong as the averages suggest today. there is a lot of overhang from IRAN news and speculation impacting the open today. Lets see how things look in about an hour or two.

WOW......OK....the above is ALL I am finding to post right now. Absolutely NOTHING of any interest. So I will just sit and linger just like my stocks are doing today.

BUT....it is so early in the day.....and....I consider the open today very OPAQUE....so who knows where we go from here.

Markets are SLOWLY slipping negative. At least what I own. I now have four of seven stocks in the RED. I expect that this trend will continue for the day to the close.

I dont see or feel ANY real energy in the markets today. Earnings....forget it...irrelevant. There are some good MOMENTUM gains going on in.....some stocks today....that I believe...are HIDING the general MALAISE that is the markets right now. We had GREAT....even HISTORIC earnings.....but the impact has been MINIMAL.

The BIG momentum today is seen here.

Micron briefly tops $1 trillion in market cap as UBS sees company becoming an AI giant

    https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/a...s-company-becoming-an-ai-giant-134443670.html

Thanks to a HUGE price target increase from UBS.

    The CHIP stocks are surging.

BUT NVDA.....never mind....in the RED for another day. I believe that part of the problem for NVDA is that.....EVERYONE....literally EVERYONE....owns the stock and there are simply very few buyers left. Many investors have seen this position dominate their portfolio and they are not going to add to it.

I also think we are seeing a very slow and very small wave of constant profit taking in the stock as investors need funds for this or that....or....chase the hot momentum plays.

In any event....FUNDAMENTALS....at least for NVDA are out the window....and have been for a long time...at least 8-10 quarters.

AND....as a result of the above....NVDA....is now simply a short term trading vehicle.....and has been for a while now...probably at least a YEAR now.

Even though I ended with only ONE stock green today and SIX red....my losses significantly improved at the close. I ended with a SMALL loss in my stocks. I also got beat by the SP500 today by....0.84%.

    My single green stock....GOOGL.

A....moral victory for my account today....with a small and meaningless loss.

Lots of MOMENTUM for a few stocks today that pumped up the SP500 and NASDAQ....but I dont think it was really a meaningful day in general.

Here is the close.....a new record for the SP500....thank you Micron.

S&P 500 jumps to a new record close as Micron shares lead tech rally

    https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/25/stock-futures-today-live-updates.html

Although when the headline says.....TECH RALLY....it is not in the traditional sense....it is limited to a little handful of chip stocks.....NOT....traditional BIG CAP tech.

......"Fellow memory chip stocks Seagate Technology and Western Digital followed Micron higher, gaining 4% and 8%, respectively. The Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM) added 14% and scored a fresh record high".....

Micron joining the Trillion-Dollar Club today!

Interesting fact... one year ago today there were 7 companies in this exclusive club, and today there are 12. This run will be studied and compared to other bull markets in history as one of the best imo. And this with Housing in a depressed state as well as the nonstop negative news feed. Watch the tape and Earnings, Earnings, Earnings!

    Tom's hypertrade update!

Back in late March, I posted a rant about 0% of news being factual, the market over responding, and nobody having the first clue what the value line is, anymore. I literally asserted the thesis: If the media thinks something is overvalued, you can assume it is undervalued and be correct nearly 100% of the time. A thread regular posted their disagreement, as they have on 80% of my posts in the last 10 months since I was run out of the stock market forum.

A couple of days after the rant (also in late March), I mentioned buying Fedex at $342.45. The stock went over $403 on April 30, which was above my limit order strike place, but my shares did not sell. That happens sometimes.

Since then, Fedex has been floating around the upper 300 range and I've deeply considered if I should just sell into a slight gain. I did not want to hold the stock long term. If I held and the price went into a loss, I would be lamenting the hold. Anyway, it sold at $402.61 a few hours ago.

Three weeks ago, a news article on Micron started bouncing around the echo chamber of ignorance. I read a TON of stuff on Micron and am familiar with the equipment sell-off that was being lied about in the news. The market responded negatively and I scooped some MU at $326. I also mentioned that purchase in this thread, not so long ago.

At this moment in time, I have not sold the Micron so I have made $0. It basically doesn't distribute so there is nothing to be made by holding. Micron is leading the industry by more than people think and the technical lead is about to widen before this quarter ends.

Long term, I like Micron just a bit more than Samsung. For now, I am pleased to hold both.

    The NEWS

My friend Occam thinks the universal misreporting is most likely attributed to AI random noise posted by people who have no interest in research or ethics. He's probably correct but the news/market behavior profile most directly fits on a nefarious scare/pump dynamic.

We live in the era of extreme low effort market manipulation with AI tools. I don't know the motives but I suspect the current trends are deliberate. In no way do I wish to disrespect the wisdom of my pal Occam.

    Reality Check

I've placed several ultra-low buy-orders on a few companies I feel have been trashed with lies and/or ignorance. They didn't all fill. I only mentioned two companies in this thread so this is the furthest thing from incontrovertible proof of any hypothesis. Still, I move forward emboldened and cashed up for the next short term move. Game on, gentlemen.

As always, I welcome and look forward to disagreement.

Follow on to "I told you so" above.

As I get older, my ability to communicate has gone away. Let me do my best to be clear.

    - Is the media always wrong: No but they are wrong a vast majority of the time so if you assume they are wrong 100% of the time, you will rarely make a bad decision.

    - Is it easy to spot lies/bad info: Yes. They are glaring if you have some knowledge.

    - Does reading the same information in several articles, all released in a short period of time, make us feel better: Yes but it shouldn't and it is not corroboration.

    - Does the market respond to media articles: Yes in almost every case.

    - Does research and knowledge help an investor: Yes. Not that long ago, it did not. Right now, a reader with a strong filter can gain a good vision of the future.

    - Does value investing work, right now? No. I have come to realize I cannot value companies. I have also come to realize, the market cannot value companies. Mark to market is bullshit. It is better than a random number; barely.

    - Does index investing work, right now? Yes, and it almost always has but I believe those days will come to an end in the near future. If the market is being manipulated, indices will be the capital buffers that are siphoned into AI powered hedge funds.

    - Do I think this is good or bad: It couldn't matter less what I think. I care what other people think is right and wrong from a social perspective. From an investing perspective, moralization could not be less relevant.

That very well may be, but it's still up 59% vs. VUG's 28% in the last year. I try my best to keep that in mind, since you have said that beating the S&P500 is almost impossible over the long haul. The more I can ride this train, the better I can position myself to be an "index beater" into retirement. I have a long way to go, but I could sell it all now and put it into VUG and still be victorious

It's best to not disrespect Mr. Occam. I hear he carries a mean razor!

Also, for funsies, what are your thoughts on Micron vs. AMD in the next 5 years? You know my stance based on my trade today, but I am keen to see your analysis when you have time.

OH NO.....TomB16 has now come over to my DARK WORLD of market manipulation, the MEDIA, and over time.....assuming that this sort of CRAP.....NEVER....gets better only worse....the ultimate end if things do not change will be the end of the stock markets as we know them. Of course I am talking 10-30 years OR MORE down the road. Add in all the GAMBLING products being called INVESTING......and there you go.

BUT.....those with vision and ability to see between the cracks.....and have the GUTS to buck the media line........will still be able to make money as little invisible investors.
