The reason....supposedly...for the mildly green averages today. I would much rather see some article about company earnings or the growing economy. BUT NO....we have allowed the MEDIA to claim control of the stock markets. It is INSANE....but....the traders love it. S&P 500 and Nasdaq rise, oil pares gains on report of US-Iran breakthrough https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/l...report-of-us-iran-breakthrough-231358550.html
Has NVDA had a single green day since their historic earnings report? I dont think so. The rest of the market has been hitting new all time highs right and left.....but poor NVDA.....NOPE. I have never seen a market like this in my lifetime. The day to day VOLATILITY is insane. It is MEDIA driven and RANDOM. Disconnected from any sort of "BUSINESS" reality or fundamentals. LOL....I see that the DOW is now RED......WHATEVER.
I am happy for shareholders......but....35% in one day. See post above. Snowflake surges 35% toward best day ever on AI frenzy, fueling software rally https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/28/snowflake-snow-software-stock-rally.html
WOW....that was a BIG sudden dip and bounce back in the DOW.....a couple of times today. CRAZY short term stuff. As usual I am seeing little to nothing being reported today concerning actual business or even economics.
I looked at my KIDS account and it is up nicely so far today. I am probably doing about the same. NVDA is still on the fence......and basically unchanged as it bounces back and forth from green to red to red to green. As usual....the markets are all about....NOTHING....today.
Looks like WXYZ answered pretty much. The only other thing I could think of as a possible consideration to think about...."wash sale rules." Of course, that applies to "losses" and buying the same security. A bit of a description...https://www.schwab.com/learn/story/primer-on-wash-sales
Yeah, MSFT has just been in a rut it seems for a while and living in the red. Interesting move though. AMD has been on fire in a good way no doubt.
They have been tone deaf on windows development for years. I do not see them in the top 3 of AI. They have Azure and Office. They are a complacent behemoth. AMD is on fire and is a hungry company. They want growth and innovation. Lisa Su is brilliant. I have faith in her and her goals. I have a ton of NVDA and my position on MSFT was not all that large. I have not added to it in years. I figured I waited long enough to give AMD some love, so I made the jump. As free funds allow, I will probably go 50/50 NVDA/AMD for a while.
A few posts here and there mention "index funds." As most here know, I am a huge supporter of them in ones financial plan. No, I am not a purist that doubts or condemns holding individual stocks within a portfolio. I do believe these passive funds can play an important part in a portfolio though and help create a path to financial security. Speaking of them, this will mark the 50th year since they first came around. Often mocked and trashed at the early stages of their inception they have long proved their worth in the long run for many, many investors. A nice little article on "50 years and 50 facts" about them and a bit of their history. https://corporate.vanguard.com/cont...cts-indexing-since-1976.html#origins-and-role
Yeah, I think GOOG has gotten the upper hand here lately regarding MSFT. TireSmoke will enjoy your company with the AMD purchase too!
They are a lifesaver for the average people. Easiest way to get ahead... and cut the sharks, ahem, portfolio planners/fund managers out of their slice. Yep, my son had me make an investment in GOOGL recently. They are definitely in the running for AI domination.
I saw a little bit of attempted....fear-mongering....of the PCE release earlier today. NONE of the headlines make the point that....YES....the gain of 0.40% for the month was.....ACTUALLY...a bit less than the 0.50% that was expected. ....."The personal consumption expenditures price index increased a seasonally adjusted 0.4% for the month, putting the 12-month inflation rate at 3.8%, the Commerce Department reported. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for respective readings of 0.5% and 3.8%."...... https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/28/cor...-as-expected-feds-preferred-gauge-shows-.html
OK....now we are cooking with gas. the markets....at least for me have improved nicely into the day. Especially....PLTR, MSFT, and for once NVDA. I have a nice small....BIG gain going right now. BUT.....the short term is a bitch. Two hours to go....which includes the dreaded FADE that hapens during the last hour of the day. At least I have my COSt earnings to look forward to after the close today.
I am not seeing much or hearing much about the SpaceX IPO. Especially considering that the road show starts next week on the June 4th and runs through June 8th. At this time the IPO pricing is scheduled to be released on June 11 and trading will start on June 12. It will be interesting to WATCH it all happen. After the IPO the final act by ELON to complete his conglomerate will be to MERGE SpaceX and TESLA. SpaceX-Tesla merger chatter reignites as Musk pushes rocket company toward Nasdaq https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/26/spa...ignites-as-musk-rocket-company-nears-ipo.html
I find it interesting....and also irrelevant....that ELON is listing SpaceX on the NASDAQ TEXAS. Doing a dual listing with the regular NASDAQ. ....."Nasdaq Texas was the third major entry into North Texas' booming capital markets scene, after the Texas Stock Exchange and NYSE Texas.".... SpaceX to dual list on Nasdaq Texas with symbol SPCX as it files to go public https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/spacex-dual-list-nasdaq-texas-221359157.html
I call.....BS...on this headline. Consumer spending has been strong even bordering on BOOMING. AND...from that baseline we saw even MORE consumer spending last month. There is a REAL disconnect between what the MEDIA is pushing on this topic.......(wishful thinking?).....and REALITY. In my opinion....MOST people......are feeling pretty good right now with all time high balances in their 401K accounts. US Consumer Spending Comes Under Pressure as Inflation Picks Up https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/articles/us-consumer-spending-comes-under-133715098.html My reading of the data in this article supports my view of a BOOMING economy.....and.....good consumer spending. That is...if you look at the actual data and strip out the opinion CRAP.
I think it's just a matter of time before NVDA gets circled back to. I think AMD has some good things going for it as well. I have been a supporter since 2009 and have done very well with their stock. I currently hold it in my 401k and roth 401k. We are having a pretty good day and PLTR and NVDA are slowly recovering. I don't see ATH in my near future with these two but hopefully we can start heading in the right direction. I also believe GOOG has some good potential to make a couple bucks for us as well. I bought a chunk when I moved a large portion of my retirement account over to my brokerage. It is up 31% since I bought it. Not bad. This move fore my retirement account has 38% gain YTD vs what would have been the S&P500's 10.3%. That's a pretty big deal.
YES....a good strong day today....especially for MSFT and PLTR. I had a medium....big gain today in my stocks. And a good beat on the SP500 by.....0.62%. My single stock in the red.....COST.
The market today had a slow start and than picked up steam. S&P 500, Nasdaq lead another record-setting stock surge amid US-Iran deal hopes, software stocks rally https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/l...al-hopes-software-stocks-rally-231358016.html
The BULL MARKET....is alive and well of course. I dont know if we will actually see it....but...when IRAN is over there is what I would call a PROBABILITY for a really strong RALLY.
