YES....good times for LORI. I will mention. I will be out of touch from Wednesday to next Monday. So you guys get ready to keep the thread alive and well. ACTUALLY....forget the thread.....keep the markets ALIVE and WELL.
Whoooooo , what happened back on page 1507 ..... I'm gone for a couple days ......... ↑ ME .....As far as CXL, I'm in a quandary over that one, maybe just get SMH (the semi's ETF) and XLK (TECH ETF) and call it good ? OR ......Marvell ? Intel ? AMD ? NVDA ? Broadcom ? maybe a little of each ? TomB said I simply cannot advise on stock purchases, my big horned friend. Please accept my apology for not engaging. To TomB and everyone else: who reads my responses: I was not asking a question , TomB I was not asking you for a recommendation...... I was sharing with ALL of you, what I was asking myself , What was going on in MY BRAIN. I'm sorry if my post was inconstrued. In reading it I can see how it could be interpreted as me asking you what stock to buy. BUT, I was doing kind of what TomB was talking about , I was sharing my process of how I went about making a decision. At that point I decided I needed to do more research on CXL and the companies involved, which is what I did. Thank You TomB , You kind of made me feel that "I needed to understand CXL better, and all the companies involved" And TomB, No Worries, whether you , or anybody else, engages in my comments on investing is up to them. I now have a little better understanding of CXL and how the timeline of CXL , how the architecture will work. The idea of Resource sharing was a novel one to me. But it is one that makes perfect sense. Again thanks to all who have shared their insights and wisdom on these pages. And TomB , I did slightly more research on Micron than I let on when I said "It was pure luck" But probably nowhere near what you do. So in your eyes , maybe I just liked the "colors on the jockey"
OK.....moving on. We are in the final innings of a good day. Of course there is always the RISK of the dreaded.....LATE DAY FADE.
WELCOME....to Texas. We now have the Dallas NASDAQ and the Texas Stock Exchange. Texas Stock Exchange opens in Dallas, aiming to rival Wall Street giants https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/texas-stock-exchange-opens-dallas-105940884.html Nasdaq Texas https://www.nasdaq.com/solutions/nasdaq-tx-stock-market Looks like we will be....ALL READY....when New York implodes as a business and financial center.......and goes full on COMMUNIST.
Also: Please be informed that I was NOT an English major in college, I was a Building Construction studies major, Engineering , Architecture, Civil Engineering, Business Studies and Real Estate Law. Basically numbers, my English and communication skills are terrible, I do not speak or write eloquently, and sometimes I struggle just to get my words on the page. And sometimes I fail miserably to convey what I want to say. edit : like you said moving on !!
WXYZ : So, I'm not saying it's not a good idea , but in reading they don't exactly say why this is needed other than "to promote Texas companies ......" Why would I use the Texas exchange vs the NYSE ? Will there be companies on that exchange that are not available on the NYSE ? I will say that my latest position (AVGO) is doing well today
OR , Lets stay optimistic , and have a late day surge ! I'm was seeing Up 1.34% , then 15 minutes later 1.47% and now 1.56% Go Go Go !
We all knew what you meant. I asked a rather benign question as well and got a completely different tone. Some people like to be overly dramatic.
Yeah, I kind of thought the same thing....What's the point? I figure they are trying to do less fees and regulation with company filings to get listed maybe?? I think this was tried back many years ago and fell flat back then. I suspect there may be some political overtones to some of it as well. But, who knows maybe it will be successful this time around. Competition is usually not a bad thing, but I would be surprised if it changes the landscape to any degree.
Your posts are full of guts and glory, Ram. I've probably only read 40% of this thread but I read every one of your posts that I've seen. I also find Smokie's posts to be the finest quality menthol. I apologized if I insulted you, Ram. I didn't want to pick a winner from your list but I will share a non-committal thought about each. Marvell - If I thought Marvell was well managed, I would have gone all in on them a couple of times in the last 25 years. As it is, I've never owned Marvell. I love this company and it breaks my heart they haven't done better than they have. Intel - Intel should be bankrupt but the US government doesn't want that to happen. I like everything I see about Lip-Bu Tan. If anyone can turn Intel around, it's Mr. Tan. Also, I look forward to the day he does a presentation wearing dark sunglasses so I can start calling him Phat Lip. AMD - The only thing new I might say about AMD is it looks like CXL will not benefit them as much as other vendors. Despite this, AMD is pushing hard on CXL with v2.0 to arrive in January 2027. AMD has had RDNA 5 almost ready for a couple of months but it won't be released until the middle of next year, at the earliest. NVDA - I think nVidia is extremely close to having RTX 60 ready for production. Supply chain problems are hurting nVidia as much as AMD. Broadcom - Broadcom owns the cell phone world. I'm not sure that will continue to be the case in 5 years. I don't predict bad things for Broacom; I simply don't know but I do think they have more down side risk than up side. Chinese companies are clearly not plagued with the same supply chain issues AMD and nVidia are. The US/China conflict is getting more difficult to pretend does not exist.
When I was 16, a mentor told me to never invest in mining or any company headquartered in Quebec. I've honored that advice and it has been of great benefit. I've been following ruthenium production for a couple of years. Speculators have driven up ruthenium prices 35x since I started watching it. Most of it is in South Africa and Russia but there is a tiny supply in the US and Canada. I dare say we need to dramatically improve production processes. As best I can tell, ruthenium will become important at the 14 angstrom process node. That's either 2 or 3 nodes from where we are now. Chip fabs claim to have achieved 2nm class production but it's more honest to say N2 is almost here. N2 will be followed by A18 and then A14. Ruthenium should increase transistor density quite a bit. Perhaps 50% in many cases. It won't shrink the transistors themselves but it will allow more compact layouts. At 14A plus the 50% ruthenium shrink, the need for chiplets and advanced packaging should either go away or be dramatically diminished. Intel is just getting into advanced packaging now so their massive investment is undoubtedly necessary but will also provide a lot less returns than AMD has had.
Well....the NASDAQ Texas exchange is basically a "clone" of the NASDAQ exchange. I see it as a back-up to the NASDAQ exchange in the event of some HUGE disaster. As to the Texas Exchange......simply an attempt to take advantage of all the relocation of business from the states and cities like New York. Over the longer term it is intended to CHALLENGE the big New York exchanges.
I had a nice day today. My stocks had a nice strong MEDIUM gain today. I also matched the gain of the SP500 in my stocks today. ONWARD and UPWARD.
Speaking of ONWARD and UPWARD......and my music activities. I got some good news today. Over the last six months I have completed production of a live album....of my best touring band. In order to release this album I had to get the approval of the record label....that the band was under contract to..... during the time of the live show. TODAY...that approval finally came. I now have worldwide rights to release and use this material in any way I wish. I have been negotiating for a couple of months....and...I now have it. I am aiming for the release to happen some time before August 1. I have a lot of work to do to hit that goal. This will be the finest live recording of that band...... at it's peak. Just a few weeks before this show.....we played at the national awards ceremony....for this genre of music..... as one of the featured acts.....and....the front person of the band won a major award at that ceremony. That...... along with a CD climbing the charts....kicked off a 3 year national and international tour....in support of the CD.
Judging by the Q1 ER, Samsung seems to have done pretty well. Guidance for Q2 is another sharp increase in income. Samsung has considerable new production online with quite a bit more new production coming online in 26H2. AI and CXL should absorb any new production anyone can possibly bring online for the foreseeable future. Is anyone else along for the Samsung ride with me?
And the clock strikes midnight on the US team. Didn’t play well, but Belgium was clearly the better team. Not a bad run for the US all things considered. So, we must rally to Lori’s England team? Any other poster have a team?? We are equal opportunity fans now.
Unlucky, Smokie. I really wanted the US team to do well, and they had a good run, but Belgium were the better side on the night. People are getting very excited in England now. We were all very nervous before the Mexico game—playing a side with home support, at altitude, and one that had only ever lost two games at the Azteca Stadium. Our boys did very well! We’re really starting to believe now that we could win this. I still think France, Argentina, or Spain might be a step too far for us, but we’re taking it one game at a time. We are all getting excited for the Norway game Saturday night (10pm over here). And, yes, we will welcome your support please
