I think.....ACTUAL.....REAL investors....already know this. We are NOT....."forgetting".....anything, as we sit and hold for the long term. Chip stocks have been routed — but investors are forgetting one thing https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/a...stors-are-forgetting-one-thing-144234764.html ......""We think that semis will find a floor soon on continued strong earnings delivery," JPMorgan strategist Mislav Matejka said in a note on Monday. "Our view is that fundamentals will likely remain constructive, as meaningful supply additions are not due before 2028, so it would be too early at present to price in an inflection … if hyperscalers capex guidance remains strong, then we think that investors should step back into the space over summer," Matejka said"..... Talk to the speculators and Hedge funds......not us actual investors.....please.
For what it's worth, Micron has broken ground on a $100B New York fab investment. I've been looking at this as a $100B loss but it could be more. IBM had to pay Global Foundaries $15B to take it's New York fabs in 2015 so the liability is not limited to the investment. Hopefully, Micron will be able to move the lithography hardware to a business friendly state and abandon the real estate or sell for a fraction of purchase. I've been looking at this $100B mistake as only 10% of MU market cap. That's a tolerable mistake, based on my model. I'm starting to question my model, though. For now, I continue to hold MU.
PERFECT.....I missed the whole day. Very relaxing to not have to follow any of the day to day BS today. We had to take the dogs to the vets and than we went out to lunch. I had a nice small....big gain today in my stocks. thanks to only about half of them....MU, NVDA, SPCX (micro-position), and AAPL. I got beat by the SP500 today by a HUGE.....0.01%. WOW....two days of making money in a row.
Some good questions in this little article. It’s Always Something https://alhambrapartners.com/weekly-market-pulse-its-always-something/?src=news ....."The only real protection for an investor is to build a portfolio that is resilient and provides tactical flexibility. You do that through diversification, spreading your capital across multiple asset classes and geographies so no single failure can cause a catastrophic loss. You do that by thinking long term and acting contrary to the crowd, reducing your exposure to assets that are loved by everyone and adding to those that are universally abhorred. Investing isn’t about predicting the next storm. It’s about building a portfolio that will survive the storm so you can reach your financial goals.".....
I continue to hold MU also....LOL. YEAH....since I only bought it four weeks ago. My timing was PERFECT....Just before the HUGE earnings beat. My reward....the usual drop. I have no plans to sell....I am going to ridee this out for at least a couple of years. At least that is the current plan.
I am having FUN now. My live Album project is doing very nicely. CD's are in production to use for PR, etc, etc, etc. Album release will happen within the next few months. My estate sale item that I bought for $250......to FLIP.....is going to auction this Saturday. Pre-auction bidding has been strong and it is already up to $450. I am HOPING to end at $1000 to $1500......minimum. I do not do a lot of flipping. Not that I dont try. it is just that the art and other items that I see as potential FLIPS....sell for more than I am willing to pay....so I rarely get the chance. It is just impossible for something to be a .....SLEEPER.....in a sale or auction anymore. Just about ALL auctions now have national exposure...even the small local auctions.
I do believe that this is a trend. A Bull Market in Nostalgia People are craving an earlier version of the world. https://chartkidmatt.com/p/a-bull-market-in-nostalgia ......"For as amazing as the technologies of 2026 are, and as much as optionality grows, our inner desire as human beings to feel like kids again will persist for decades to come. Jeff Bezos said to build a business around the things that won’t change. This craving for nostalgia isn’t going away. If anything, automation is going to make its importance even more pronounced.".....
YES.......if you IGNORE the BS MEDIA....fear pushers. There is a lot to be happy about. Don’t Worry, Be Happy https://www.carsongroup.com/insights/blog/dont-worry-be-happy/ ....."We get it, the news and headlines are constantly bad. This has greatly impacted consumer confidence surveys and overall investor psyche. But are things really that bad? Listen, we could always find reasons to worry, and trust me, we are paid to worry when you manage money and risk. Still, I’ve noticed a few under-the-radar things that are suggesting things are much better than we keep hearing.".....
The big moment today....a one or two day event. Alphabet earnings offer a moment of truth in this tech stock battle https://finance.yahoo.com/technolog...ruth-in-this-tech-stock-battle-121514421.html
The EARLY market today. Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq diverge with Alphabet, Tesla earnings on deck https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/l...nasdaq-alphabet-tesla-earnings-083644887.html
YES....it was a violent short term unwind......but that is hindsight.....now we will see where we go into the FUTURE. A violent AI unwind is hiding beneath a resilient stock market: Chart of the Day https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/a...-stock-market-chart-of-the-day-100000350.html I dont believe that this market VIOLENCE was justified or supported by fundamental REALITY. We will get a clue as the current earnings come in. I suspect they will be GREAT......but....nit-picked to death as usual.
Forget....ALARM. This is a HUGE opportunity for people that want to lock in a great....totally safe...long term return for safe money. US 30-Year Yield Raises Alarm in Longest Run Above 5% Since 2007 https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/articles/us-30-yield-raises-alarm-133108985.html Currently at......5.143%.
It begins....the first of many to come. SpaceX snaps 7-day losing streak, sets earnings date that triggers first big share unlock https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/21/spacex-spcx-earnings-lock-up-expiration.html
I start the day with THREE green stocks.....MU, NVDA, and GOOGL. As usual when I look at the print media....NOTHING going on today of much significance. Just the usual SOAP OPERA.....day in the markets.
NOT a big confidence builder for the future of......HUMANS and modern society. AI Bot Goes Rogue, Hacks Rival Against Creator’s Commands During a test of a new model, one of OpenAI's bots went rogue and attacked another company https://www.dailywire.com/news/ai-bot-goes-rogue-hacks-rival-against-creators-commands I guess this AI is smarter than the HUMANS that designed the sand-box. ....."In a statement from the company, OpenAI was testing one of its highly advanced ChatGPT models last week to “pursue advanced exploitation by using complex attack paths.” In the testing process, the bot was able to escape the “sandboxed” environment it was being tested in and make its way into the open internet, where it attacked large AI and coding database Hugging Face.".....
In other words the AI spending is NOT a big deal for these companies. They are spending free cash where they should....on company infrastructure and capital assets and future growth. That is how business is supposed to operate. Google's profits are outrunning its AI spending boom: AlphaCheck https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/a...ts-ai-spending-boom-alphacheck-155349278.html ....."Holding margins near 35% while sales keep growing around 20% would show Alphabet is still outrunning its AI bill. A much weaker margin as spending climbs would show the bill is catching up.".....
Looks like a really good BEAT for GOOGL. Alphabet reports Q2 2026 revenue of $119.8 billion https://9to5google.com/2026/07/22/alphabet-q2-2026-earnings/ "Our AI investments are redefining what’s possible across every part of our business. Q2 was an amazing quarter, with Alphabet revenues growing 24% year-over-year and Google Cloud revenues accelerating to 82% growth, driven by demand for AI infrastructure and AI solutions. It’s great to see wide adoption of Gemini Enterprise, with nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 using it. We have exciting momentum across the board. Our popular AI features are driving Search query growth. Gemini models now process 22 billion API tokens per minute and the Gemini App has 950 million monthly active users. We are seeing strong demand for our security solutions, and our new Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber delivers highly cost-efficient performance at the frontier. And month over month, people turn to YouTube for major world events, with over 1.7 billion unique viewers watching World Cup-related videos during the FIFA World Cup 2026TM. These outstanding results show that our differentiated, full stack approach to AI is delivering real, measurable value for consumers, customers, and our partners globally.” Sundar Pichai, CEO
AND from the above. "Alphabet today announced Q2 2026 earnings with $119.8 billion in revenue. These numbers range from April to June. Revenue is up 24% from $96.4 billion in Q2 2025, with operating income at $40.77 billion and net income of $112.1 billion for this quarter (versus $28.2 billion a year ago). For comparison, Alphabet reported $109.9 billion in revenue and $62.58 billion in net income last quarter. In Q2 2026, YouTube ad revenue was $11.06 billion (versus $9.79 billion a year ago), while Cloud reported $24.77 billion (compared to $13.62 billion). “Google subscriptions, platforms, and devices” — which includes hardware, Play Store, and non-advertising YouTube revenues — reported $12.91 billion, compared to $11.2 billion the same quarter last year."..... Those are some significant....BEATS.
A bit more. Google Q2 earnings top expectations, cloud revenue grows 82% https://finance.yahoo.com/technolog...tations-cloud-revenue-grows-82-202407124.html Of course the MEDIA MORONS will be whining....where is the impact of AI? Well....it is all though those numbers.
On the other hand. Tesla misses on earnings despite revenue beat, as free cash flow turns negative https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/22/tesla-tsla-q2-2026-earnings-report.html "Key Points Tesla reported weaker-than-expected earnings for the quarter, but beat on revenue. The company’s stock price is down 17% this year, while the Nasdaq is up. Earlier this month, Tesla reported a 25% increase in year-over-year auto deliveries for the second quarter, following consecutive annual declines."
