The good news.....NOTHING IS SET IN STONE....yet. I have HOPE that the younger generations will fulfill their duty to preserve our freedoms and free market system. At....soon to be...age 77......my time is relatively short and my generation is no longer in control. The young generations vastly outweigh and outnumber us. YOU......those under age 55......will determine the FUTURE of the USA and the world. A big responsibility....but you are up to it. It will be interesting to watch.
AND....in my little world.....ALL IS WELL. MY family is all thriving.....healthy, successful, and moving into a bright future. The oldest grandchild will graduate from a major college this next year with a degree from a good Business School.....and....ZERO debt. The torch is being passed. I HAVE to keep my FOCUS on what counts....immediate FAMILY. I have no control of anything else. It is the same for all of us. Immediate family is the one area where you have a chance to make a difference......and....impact generations. That is why people like....ROAD, RG, LORI, TIRESMOKE, OLDMANRAM with his kids, SMOKIE, etc, etc, etc.....give me HOPE. ALL that post on this thread....give me HOPE.
Well, I had a devil of a time locating the site today. A regular search didn't do it for me. Even the address didn't turn up much for the site. During that time, I came across a few indications/articles mentioning the site had been hacked, and user info had been compromised. Sometime in June 2026 the best I could tell. Not much info on it. I quizzed "AI" about it, and it also appeared to confirm it. I certainly don't want to pull the fire alarm and discourage any one from being here. Just passing it along. Don't know if anyone else has noticed anything odd in reference to the site or finding it. I figured site management might have given us a heads up on this sort of thing. Of course, we haven't had too much of that in a while.
I find the site as usual. I google "stockaholics" and up comes this thread. I do see some very vague info in strange places about the site being hacked. What does anyone else have on this? This stuff is ubiquitous today....this is why I STILL use and old fashioned "TOKEN" to access investment accounts.
I have always had this place as a bookmark. Nothing out of the ordinary lately with site functions or access, unless you count the broken video embed function

I've been following the Ukraine/Russia situation since the Crimean annexation. Ukraine has had a successful campaign against Russian oil, fuel, and weapons infrastructure. This has done significant damage to the Russian economy. Recently, Ukraine has added Wildberries (The largest Russian online retailer). Taking out these warehouse/distribution centers seems to be having far more impact than the oil/weapons targets. Perhaps all of these targets are required to significantly impact Russia's ability to mount war. It's sobering to realize you can attack a countries primary means of income and their munitions but taking out their supply chain for AK-47 shaped vodka snifters will bring a country to it's knees.
As to the above......I have one question......what is the basis of current stock and investment selection? As TomB16 noted.....VALUE INVESTING.....appears to be not only dead....but totally forgotten. As does....FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS and TECHNICAL ANALYSIS. SO.....what are we left with......simply MOMENTUM investing? I do like his term....that the market is now simply a.....BLACK BOX. Put your money into the box and.....BINGO.....you lose or win....you go up or down. BUT....on what basis? SURE....the media always has some after-the fact- reason for why something happened. BUT....those reasons are usually simply....uneducated, non-business related......BS. In spite of this market action.....I suspect that I will STILL make decent money in most years and LONG TERM. I did happen to make some money on my antique item that I flipped. I paid $250 for the item and at auction on Saturday I made $1300. Not bad for a one month holding time. The money will go into my 2X leveraged NVDA mad money account.....which is my...."ART FUND".

Looks like ANOTHER typical day in the short term markets to me. The same old stories that I now see just about every day. Most have NOTHING to do with business reality or investing. HOW SAD......so I sit and do nothing as usual.

Fortunately......there is NOTHING going on for me to miss....other than the largest EARNINGS WEEK in a long time. I KNOW how the earnings will turn out. They will be massive BEATS. UNFORTUNATELY....I also know how the markets will react.
I am NOT surprised in the slightest....the NASDAQ is now....RED. I have ZERO trust or confidence in the current market. AND.....the SP500 in now.....of course....RED. I am out of here.......not going to waste my time today obsessing over this market.
I will make one last comment this morning. I see the current market as a MASSIVE SHORT ATTACK from the Hedge funds and other BIG MONEY investors. YES....this is market manipulation....but it is legal. NVDA....down by nearly 4% in a single day....today. MU....down by over 6.5% in a single day....today. A coordinated attack on these companies....today....and over the past month or two. I am now going to add the terms....."correction" and "bear market" to the TRASH HEAP-DUMPSTER FIRE that is the markets right now. The terms are now MEANINGLESS since a company can go into a correction or even a bear market in just a day or two of market action. SO.....the TRASH HEAP of market history now has made the following terms meaningless: CORRECTION BEAR MARKET VALUE INVESTING FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS TECHNICAL ANALYSIS AND....I guess in light of the above......and the inclusion of the term "bear market"..... I also need to add the market term....BULL MARKET to the list above.
IMO, it isn't an attack on these companies. These companies remain comically over-valued. This is an attack on both investors and the economy. The balloon was pumped up. Now the balloon is being deflated. Soon, the balloon will be pumped up again. This cycle will continue until every gambler is broke. I've lost $0. I've also gained $0. I won't know how my current positions fare until these positions are closed out. We won't know how good an investor I am until I'm done investing. That's why I don't respect people who explain how great they are. We'll see. Everyone is an 800 pound gorilla while the music is playing. Once the music stops, we'll know who is who. In the mean time, I will struggle to do the best I can.
