Interesting... Could it be that in the future AMD will find itself out of its league with these heavyweighers competing for the sweet spot on the market?

Nvidia slashes GTX 1060 memory to compete with AMD's Radeon RX 480 4GB card
Although Nividia hasn’t made any formal announcements, EVGA and MSI launched on Thursday new graphics cards based on Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1060 design relying on a mere 3GB of onboard GDDR5 memory. Previous models served up by Nvidia’s partners featured double the GDDR5 memory amount when they hit the market in late July.

Unmatched in the high-end videocard niche and now entering the mid of the pack arena. Love what nVidia's doing lately.

AMD (AMD) and NVIDIA (NVDA) are Both GPU Winners, MKM Says

In a note to clients today, MKM Partners analyst, Ian Ing, said both AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) and NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) look like GPU winners on their refreshes.

"Both companies are benefiting from recent GPU launches, with signs of abundant customer supply and attractive price-for-performance given continued premium pricing," Ing said. "With AMD's completed $1.3bn in offerings that retired straight debt, it is on a faster path to net income profitability (a key hurdle for some long-only investors)."

Nvidia Job Postings Suggest an Nvidia Chip Return to Apple Macs

Nvidia Corp., a maker of graphics chips frozen out of Apple Inc. computers, has posted job listings that indicate a better relationship with the world’s most valuable technology company.

Current Mac computers feature graphics chips from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Nvidia, which is the leading manufacturer of high-end graphics chips used in gaming machines, hasn’t been an option for multiple generations of computer models from Cupertino, California-based Apple.

Nvidia, in a job ad for a software engineer, said a successful applicant will “help produce the next revolutionary Apple products.” The role would require “working in partnership with Apple” and writing code that will “define and shape the future”’ of graphics-related software on Macs.

This would be pretty big! Macs definitely lack in their GPU department.
