Unless pre market is giving a head fake it looks like AMD is more normalized this morning down a penny on 60K. The only problem is that the markets look like they are going to open significantly down.

Any recommendation on hedging this one for another meltdown this week? Possibly weekly puts?

Interesting, wonder what other gaming console is coming that hasn't been announced yet that would fit the last design win?

AMD celebrates a year of its revamped Radeon Technologies Group

A year ago, Advanced Micro Devices reorganized its processor and graphics businesses by creating a stand-alone Radeon Technologies Group to handle all of the design, marketing, and other tasks for its graphics division.

It launched a series of Radeon graphics cards, formed a bunch of virtual reality alliances, and revamped its graphics architecture with the unveiling of its Polaris designs and a new manufacturing technology. And the company is stepping back to look at how much progress it has made today.

In the preceding years, AMD had lost market share to graphics leader Nvidia and processor king Intel. While Nvidia is executing well with the launch of its own Pascal architecture, AMD says it has taken back market share.

“We managed to bring the focus back to graphics and turned around the erosion that happened over the last few years,” said Raja Koduri, senior vice president and chief architect of AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group, in a press call. “We are back to a positive trajectory, which was a tremendous effort from the entire team. We have a lot more to do. We have accomplished this turnaround when our competition didn’t make it easy. They have been executing exceedingly well.”

He added, “To put the turnaround in perspective, it has been done in a time when the odds were stacked against us. We have a breathtaking amount of stuff coming.”

Picked up some this morning. Got my stop set just in case. I'm hoping the announcement of closing the sells will hit soon and give it a bump.

Not to worry on that. When big trades come in out of sequence slightly after the bell it did not take place at that time or a accumulation from earlier in the day. I see that quite frequently on a lot of stocks,

Pros Say Many Nasdaq Trades Reported Late : Securities: The practice, a blatant violation of rules, can mean illegal market manipulation. NASD says it will not tolerate purposely inaccurate reporting.

AMD's next game bundle is a Battlefield 1 upgrade code

    upload_2016-9-15_11-57-5.png

AMD is launching a new game bundle today that's a little different from the company's standard promotions. Buyers who purchase an AMD Radeon RX 480 in select markets will get an upgrade code for Battlefield 1, transforming a Standard Edition of the game to the Deluxe Edition.

To be clear, AMD is not bundling game codes for Battlefield 1 with RX 480 purchases: you'll still need to buy the game separately, as this bundled code merely upgrades the cheapest edition to the Deluxe Edition. The difference in price between these editions is $20 through EA's Origin service.

Are FreeSync TVs On The Way?

The Radeon Technologies group celebrated its one-year anniversary by hosting a conference call to tout its freshman accomplishments, including increased market share; strides in immersive computing and machine intelligence; and its investment in the GPU Open, DirectX 12, and Vulkan communities. However, after a mostly uneventful birthday party, the subject of FreeSync-capable TVs was briefly discussed, with company representatives all but confirming that the variable refresh rate technology would soon be making its way to the living room.

That raised the question: Are consoles about to get FreeSync?

FreeSync is an open-source variable refresh rate technology that matches the refresh rate of the GPU to the display, eliminating screen tearing and other artifacts, making the experience smoother at framerates that would otherwise be considered unenjoyable. The feature is particularly useful with less-powerful GPUs, and it's already available on over 100 different PC displays. However, the current FreeSync screens on the market aren’t sized to be the centerpiece of the living room.

When asked if the company was doing anything specific to get TV manufacturers interested in launching FreeSync-enabled TVs, Sr. Vice President and Chief Architect Raja Koduri gave a mixed-bag reaction that essentially confirms the existence and development of FreeSync TVs:

“We are definitely working with the entire display community on getting FreeSync to more places,” said Koduri, who seemed to hesitate before continuing. “I think this is something we should follow up...on what we can share at this point on FreeSync TVs.”
