Ping pong between these levels. oh well. 2151 - 2139 See if they chop for hte rest of the day or get below 2144
...and after all of that DB & Fed shenanigans this month, we're essentially sitting UNCH'd for September ... not bad lol
This has nothing to do with markets, but I was bummed out when I read this story. Traditional mom and pop shops are a thing of the past. Hello commercialization. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NEW YORK (AP) — New York City's iconic Carnegie Deli is closing its flagship location on Dec. 31. Spokeswoman Cristyne Nicholas says owner Marian Harper "emotionally announced the news" to employees on Friday. She says workers will have their jobs through the busy holiday season. Harper's father bought the Manhattan deli from the original owners in 1976. The deli first opened in 1937. Harper will focus on licensing the brand and selling products for wholesale distribution. Carnegie will still have locations in Las Vegas; Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; New York's Madison Square Garden; and at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in Queens. The popular tourist destination is a few blocks from Carnegie Hall and is known for its massive pastrami sandwiches and pop culture cameos. Scenes from Woody Allen's "Broadway Danny Rose" were shot there.
$212.19 SPY is still the level to watch for. Bulls need to hold this mark to further an advance. Anything below this and you have to take risk off the table. Trade back below $200.48 - $204.35, and something larger may be lurking. Initial upside is capped at 2261.
This seems more of a success story than anything else. But I do see what you are saying, the original store getting shut down is a sad thing.
It is a success story. I am happy for them. But if you think about it, Carnegie's was widely successful as a mom and pops shop. The two times I've been there, I always had to wait in line at least 25 minutes. Licensing the brand gives them operational leverage and greater global reach, but I suppose what the person's definition of successful is, is what matters. What I'll miss is the service and history of the place. Hopefully by branding the name, they'll retain the quality and service.
