Are people starting to position for a rate hike in December? Gold down big, yields and dollar are up, utilities and REIT are down pretty big while financials are outperforming

The fun needs to hold off a other few days. I'm back this Thursday or Friday depending on transfer time for funds.

Just in time for earnings season, I think. Although I missed a great spiked lizard trade in Costco last week. Ah well.

ECB talking about cutting their upcoming QE.
Japan similarly did not do as much QE in their last decision.

The US is definitely hiking in December. We couldn't do it without those other guys helping.

I'm looking at NUGT as well.

Will look for entry tomorrow morning .. hopefully it'll make its way back into the 20's. Do you have an exit price in mind?

i dont plan on holding it long, i think gold has more downside to go, just playing for a quick bounce, i rather not hold it through jobs report friday, so ill probably be out Thursday.

at this point, i think the fed will raise in december, what im interested in seeing is how global bond yields react to that, then i will know what trend gold will take.

    • McDonald's — The restaurant operator is near a deal to sell 20-year franchise rights in Singapore and Malaysia to Saudi Arabia's Reza Group, according to Reuters, with the potential transaction worth up to $400 million. Reza already operates a number of McDonald's restaurants in Saudi Arabia.

    • Amazon.com — Amazon introduced a service called "Prime Reading," which lets Prime members access a variety of books and magazines at no additional charge, even if they don't own one of the company's Kindle e-readers or Fire tablets.

    • Constellation Brands — The spirits maker reported adjusted quarterly profit of $1.77 per share, 12 cents a share above estimates. Revenue also beat forecasts, driven by strong beer sales. Constellation also increased its full-year guidance. Separately, the company bought craft whiskey maker High West Distillery for about $160 million as it moves ahead with plans to expand further into premium liquor.

    • Micron Technology — Micron reported an adjusted quarterly loss of five cents per share, smaller than the 12 cents a share loss expected by analysts. The chipmaker's revenue also was better than forecasts on improved pricing. Micron forecast better-than-expected current-quarter profit, as well, but investors are largely discounting that forecast due to an accounting change by Micron and broader market trends.

    • Global Payments — The provider of payment technology services earned an adjusted 86 cents per share for its latest quarter, three cents a share above estimates. Revenue was also above forecasts. Global Payments raised its full-year forecast, both on the better-than-expected first-quarter performance, as well as the integration of Heartland Payment Systems, which it acquired in April.

    • BlackRock — The asset manager is cutting fees for more than a dozen of its exchange-traded funds, helping it better compete with offerings by rivals like Vanguard and State Street.

    • Endurance Specialty Holdings — Endurance will be bought by Japanese insurer Sompo Holdings for $6.3 billion or $93 per share, compared to yesterday's close of $87.87 for the U.S. based casualty insurer's stock.

This is a very dangerous market to navigate. I would only focus on buying common stock and selling puts on companies worth the price tag to future earnings growth. Trading this market is ill-advised. There is definitely the need to take anyone out on a moments notice as bigger funds jockey for position.

Tomorrow or Friday I start trading again.

I've been expecting a large sell off in equities but haven't seen much yet. My memory tells me we usually have an Aug/Sept/Oct sell off, but this year we haven't. Or, we had a light sell off before going higher again. But I was expecting much bigger.

I may look at some debit calendar spreads for the foreseeable future until I can get some idea about this market. Maybe we are sideways until after the election? But lately I like debit put calendar spreads on companies that have had a nice run up and their volitility has gone down a lot. Gives me 2 chances to benefit. One from an increase in vol, and another when the slight correction comes.

Thanks Cy. I've missed you all too.

I think I'm going to try and focus my trading on 3 different strategies and see how I do.

    Calendar spreads.
    Naked options.
    Spiked lizards.

I may add a fourth, iron condors, depending on risk im willing to take on earnings plays.

I guess I get to start trading today. Wire transfer went through already.

Started with calendar spread in Yum at $85. Now if we can just get a little down movement.
