Was not expecting the 3%+ gain this morning... AMD Collaborates with Arka Media Works and Film Director SS Rajamouli to Create Stunning VR Experiences Based On Upcoming Baahubali Sequel 、 http://marketwired.sys-con.com/node/3939549
You nailed it @Richie Rich it just broke the upper BB and 7.50/7.75 would be the next levels of resistance
There are a lot of analyst reiterating their buys and one that went from a buy to a strong buy. Nearing 2nd level resistance at 7.50
AMD Collaborates with Arka Media Works and Film Director SS Rajamouli to Create Stunning VR Experiences Based On Upcoming Baahubali Sequel 9:01 am ET October 25, 2016 (Market Wire) Print Unprecedented 360 Video and VR experiences brought to millions through new technology MUMBAI, INDIA--(Marketwired - Oct 25, 2016) - Today at the Mumbai Film Festival organized by the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI), AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) showcased new technology that can bring 360 video and Virtual Reality to millions through a bleeding edge Virtual Reality capture instrument with up to 32 cameras and the AMD's renowned GPU-accelerated video stitching software. Used in conjunction with Radeon™ Pro Graphics, the new technology is being used initially to develop content to promote the upcoming Baahubali: The Conclusion, a movie directed by SS Rajamouli scheduled to premiere on April 28, 2017. Under the creative direction of SS Rajamouli, Arka Media Works and AMD's Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) are using the new technology to collaborate on two pieces of compelling VR content: a 360-degree video titled "On the Sets of Baahubali" and a fully immersive VR experience, "The Sword of Baahubali." On the Sets of Baahubali is available now, and was shown to attendees of MAMI on October 22nd and 23rd along with early takes of The Sword of Baahubali. "We are beyond thrilled to have Baahubali: The Conclusion and AMD's Radeon Technologies Group showcase the world's most advanced VR experience for the first time here at MAMI," said Anupama Chopra, director of the JIo MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival with Star. "As humans we are at awe when we experience things of large scale -- both natural and man-made," said Rajamouli, director for both Baahubali films. "We are at awe when we see the Grand Canyon, we are also at awe when we stand next to 2,722 feet tall man-made Bhurj Khalifa. I have been fascinated by the possibilities with scale since the first time I experienced VR. Through collaboration with AMD's Radeon Technologies Group we have been fortunate to get access to cutting edge VR technologies that are helping us to push the boundaries like never before." To create these experiences, AMD has built the radical new VR capture camera -- the bb360cc -- and leading-edge 360-degree video stitching software. The bb360cc provides real-time VR preview and up to 32 cameras. Using AMD-created Project Loom software, videographers can rapidly stitch 360-degree video, often in real-time or nearly so, eclipsing the time needed using alternative techniques. The open source Project Loom software is expected to be widely available to content creators by the end of the year. "AMD is committed to bringing VR to millions across the globe and that includes enabling filmmakers to provide cinematic quality to a VR experience," said Raja Koduri, senior vice president and chief architect, Radeon Technologies Group, AMD. "On the Sets of Baahubali is being shot with the new bb360cc camera and the teaser clips being shown a MAMI are easily the most stunning 360 video yet experienced. The Sword of Baahubali is a very ambitious real-time computer graphics VR experience that is designed to push the limits of next generation GPU hardware." "We're excited to be working with AMD's Radeon Technologies Group to create state-of-the-art VR experiences," said Shobu Yarlagadda, cofounder and CEO of Arka Media Works. "We are targeting the release of The Sword of Baahubali in April, 2017 around the release of the film. We already have a few hundred theaters planning to install the VR equipment to support the launch of this extraordinary and compelling VR experience." Another good day on a down market day. Looks promising for sure. Doesn't look much like the big cheeses are even toying with it much.
Now that AMD is above the upper BB it makes it a little more difficult to make a call. As previously said it has closed on the HOD two days running on very strong volume. It broke broke the 1st level of resistance early and closed on the 2nd level. I saw big support come in at 7.47 near the EOD as the markets were selling off some. With that, the sentiment is still high. Taking the markets and news out of the mix I could see the price going higher as it is not quite overbought yet but but be prepared for a pull back. If we should get another pop like we have seen in the last two days then there is something going on behind the scene's not publicly known IMO. Not to bank on it but I have seen a couple speculations of AMD being a takeover target. These rumors have been going on for years but I will say that AMD looks more attractive now than many years past. If we can break 7.50 the next test could come at the 7.75 level on the way to $8 and higher. Like this morning maybe a little profit taking out the gate.
I agree, if this trend holds another day, something is up for sure. To steady of a mover in these markets.
Honestly, if the trend holds another day, I don't think it has to be something huge behind the scenes. It's simply recovering back to where it was before they offered more shares and the price dropped $2/share. I think a lot of the people/companies who sold are just getting back in. That's just me though. I hope you guys are right though. I'd love for some more huge news, especially if it's a takeover! Big, fast gains are always fun!
Not sure about a takeover or what, I'm thinking something big in their product line is looming. Either way, I'm sure many are enjoying the moment. Seems like several out of the blue takeovers happening lately, catching a lot of people off guard, me included. I've owned and worked on several of their machines before. They provided a lot of bang for the consumers buck. There was always room to overclock their stock stuff, throw a few extra fans on them and rock on.

Considering a 14% jump in 2 days on 131 millions shares traded, it appears to be profit taking that would be the norm.
AMD is doing great! My longer term chart here shows the support I was watching last month below $6, as long as it stays above that level my short to mid term outlook remains bullish
