Here is a quick snapshot of the major markets:
This has been a pretty impressive move since post-election.
    We've got:
    • Indices making new highs. (Small caps & Transports leading)
    • Offensive sectors ripping higher like Financials.
    • USD pairs all moving lower which is indicative of a strong dollar.
    • Metals moving lower. (Exception of copper which is suggesting the potential for global growth)
    • Bonds hitting fresh lows for the year.
    • And the USD index at highs last seen since 2003!

An insurance ETF, IAK, traded 55x normal volume today. These insurance companies are hot, like banks.

Everyone needs insurance, rich or poor or whatever. Or they'll throw you in jail

Yeah gold looks like will go lower in the near future if the dollar continues to rally. If the fiscal spending really will cause inflation to heat up next year though, then it should be pretty bullish for gold next year. We don't even know how big the fiscal stimulus will be so it is all guess right now :p

If I were going to buy the pound, what would be a good entry level to wait for?

the small caps russell 2k index has closed up for 10 sessions in a row for the first time since march 2013 ... it hasn't done an 11 in a row since 2003.

it's up over +13% in those 10 days which would be its largest 10 day win streak on record ... the previous record was +12% back in 1991.

also worth noting that the usd index is up for 9 days in a row ... it hasn't done a 10 in a row since mid-2013.

The Russell 2000 is trying to go for 11 up day in a row today  NASDAQ hit a new ATH today before pulling back, now only the SPX needs to join the party :D The market remains resilient despite rates and the dollar rising pretty quickly, at this point hard to see the Dow not to hit 19000 :p

Looks like the DX is going to make it 10 days in a row on the upside here tying the streak back mid-2013. I need to go check and see when we last did an 11 in a row! What a run! And the spike down you see is not a bad tick, that was from election day. From 95 to 101 in 10 days. Wow.
