I tried to join you folks in the chat but was unsuccessful. I already have a discord account using my primary email account but the app is asking for a different addy, the message I get is "this email address already in use". I'm not sure how to proceed? I certainly don't want to jump through fiery hoops to enter an app that I'm registered at. One would think that one registration would cover all the boards, less clutter on the app, but apparently I need several email addys so I can register the different chat rooms. My apologizes if I seem salty, it's been a long day and I've out in the heat, and folks let me tell you, it's hot outside.

 

@Bodacious - I've recently had to revoke all the previous invite links into the server due to a bot spam attack that had inundated the chat.

I'm not sure which invite link you had tried, but any of the ones that were previously posted to this thread are no longer valid and will not work.

Also, I should remind you that while this Discord server is our official Stockaholics live chat for the forums here, the chat is also shared by 2 Reddit communities. /r/StockMarket and /r/Investing.

Most of the user base on this chat are coming via Reddit fwiw.

But, you'll see a few of us from the Stockaholics side in there. Most notably @JerryM, who goes by the handle Gray Wolf.

@Bodacious - if you're still having that "e-mail already in use" issue even after using the invite link that I had just posted above, please let me know.

What I could do on the server is temporarily change the settings to allow members to join the chat without having to verify a valid e-mail address.

I would only do it for you though so you can connect, and then I would need to set it back.

 

Looks like some other person was also experiencing that "e-mail is already in use" issue as well.

I've just gone ahead and temporarily disabled the verify e-mail on Discord account setting on the server.

See if that works now @Bodacious.

Please report back in here once you've tried it.

fwiw, i had to setup a completely new invite link due to a recent wave of spam bot raids on the server.

i have that link password protected on our subreddit and elsewhere.

not sure if that will do anything, but worth a shot i guess.

Hey Bodacious. I saw on the server where you attempted to verify and it failed. I verified you manually and you should be good to go now. Log back in and check the chat rooms. You should be able to type in them now. Ping me on the server if you have any trouble.
