Sort of. My understanding is they will offer gold membership to people who accepts the terms of margin account that Gil mentioned above. There are three tiers and monthly fees:

    Borrow $2K - $10 fee
    Borrow $10K - $50 fee
    Borrow $25K - $110

    ----------------------

$10 fee/month to use extended hours is pretty good IMO. Extended hours cover 30 mins premarket and 2 hours after hours. I attached their FAQ document in case anyone would like to learn more.

Newbie here.. I know this thread is a few months old, but I just found out about this Robinhood thing

It seems to fit my needs perfectly.. I have the app now, but have not made a deposit yet... Wanted to make sure it's legit first, and from my reading here it seems so

One thing I noticed is they don't trade any OTC markets.. That may not be a bad thing, but it would be nice to make free penny trades

Other than that, and what's already been posted here, is Robinhood still a thumbs up? For a beginner?

I'm new to investing as well. I started using Robinhood and love it so far. Admittedly, being new to trading I don't really know if it's missing and features that seasoned traders would consider a must have. I like that it doesn't charge to buy or sell. This is huge to me right now while I'm learning as I have bought and sold a few that didn't turn out real profitable and would have been a loss had I paid a fee to trade. It also seems very quick and easy to use.
I would be interested to hear options of experienced investors.

I'm gonna give it a try

I have a new TD Ameritrade account already... I love the app and the tools available (even though I'm still learning how to use them), but I'm frustrated with the deposit processs...... Made my first (small) deposit 13 days ago.. It cleared through my bank 8 days ago.. It is still not available in my TD account... Maybe because of the holidays, but still frustrating waiting 2 weeks to see my money

I don't actually have anything to invest, my plan is to save while I learn.... Robinhood offers automatic deposits, and say they clear in 3 business days.... That's the #2 draw for me, right behind zero commission

I see no reason why I can't keep my watchlist on TD, and use their tools to analyze.. But make my actual trades on Robinhood

I'm a big fan of ThinkOrSwim for the analysis tools, but you can get it pretty decent for free on TradingView. Obviously it's not quite ThinkOrSwim levels, but it's good.

Just for clarification if you have an instant account anything below $1000 deposit is available same day for trading.

Anything above $1,000 is subject to the 3-4 day settlement period.

Well that's even better!... Pretty sure all my deposits will be under $1000

Just pulled up that TradingView site, already looks like it has a few more tools than the ToS mobile app

Question, other day I noticed Nasdaq has their own analysis page... And a 12 step research structure called "The Nasdaq Dozen"...... Anyone familiar with this, how does it compare to your research criteria??

The one thing I am not clear on for Robinhood is how often you can make $1,000 deposits - I would assume it is based on the 4-5 settlement days. IE you can probably only deposit up to $1,000 every week if you want it available right away.

Is there anyone else who is trading options with robinhood and when they get ready to sell the price automatically drops several points like for several hundreds of dollars. This happens to me 90% of the time. It's never to my advantage. I could understand it happening every now and then but it happens even when the stock don't move. I have always liked robinhood and have been using them for several years now. But it's starting to cost a significant amount of money when it won't sell for what the have posted.

Are you using a limit order, or market order?

Yeah use limit order to make sure that it will be sold at the prices that you want. I haven’t done options yet with Robinhood despite it is free now :p However I didn’t have any problem with Robinhood when I bought and sold shares by using limit order.

Not sure how this might effect robinhood and those who use the platform, but......without any noticeable warning......

Robinhood no longer supports email verification codes for log ins, if you don't have a cellphone to get the codes you are unable to access your account.

I am a gold member from time to time. And day trade from time to time on RH.

Stocks, never have an issue and my trades almost always are immediate unless my buy order is so large it takes a couple minutes to fill an order.

I have trades the options, but mostly don't on that platform.

The only real concern I have is with crypto on RH as they are their own market maker.

Is Robinhood going out of business? Will they close their doors?

If you have investments in Robinhood, and they go out of business, yes, you will lose your money. The more important question is whether or not you can avoid being in that situation or if you do find yourself in the situation, whether or not there is something you can do to recover your losses.

Do they know something that we don't know with regards towards the current sociopolitical environment?

The robbers who robbed robinhood accounts most recently were robbed via their compromised email accounts.

The only way it could be done.

And not the fault of Robinhood.

Thats why they canned email verification. (for now)

WORD: quit using lame passwords lol. And always use two factor authentication. On everything!

And since robinhood is basically a cell phone product, why the heck would you only use web based interface.

I never said anything about anyone being or getting robbed, I was simply warning customers that their accounts could be inaccessible to them if they had no way of receiving mobile text. I never put blame on RH, or anyone else. At the core of this issue is changing the agreement (TOS) as both parties saw it at the start of the agreement between the two parties, the breech was removing email base verification codes without prior notice, or for that matter any notice at all.

A person could be fine accessing their account for months via web based interface browser and one day the person attempts log in and finds that the email verification number option has been removed without warning. After being informed of the revocation the customer has to deal with a sluggish support team that has no contact phone number, kind of ironic since RH is as you put it " robinhood is basically a cell phone product".

How about this, if there is a problem with a persons account, should not that person be fully informed as to the problem?

Or maybe you think it is better to keep the customer in the dark, wondering WTF is going on?

Can I hazard a guess that you shill for RH? What other motive could there be in your defending them?

My apologies. I didn't express myself very well.

I am not a shill. I do use them and like them.

I do agree customer service should be a priority especially with them showing interest in an IPO.
