You have nice collection of videos Cy I just found your name on those videos, I would know those were your videos if I wasn't so lazy to check who the uploaded was I was trying to watch some videos on YouTube before sleeping then I just somehow found your videos. It is kinda a fun reminder to see names like BAC, C, and GE were in single digits and traded like penny stocks
Macron won, I think his victory was mostly priced in, will be interesting to see if we get the "buy the rumors sell the news" this time
yeah i agree about this largely being baked in already ... my guess is that we'll see a small gap up on the globex open in relief that this didn't turn out horribly wrong lol ... but then markets will settle in and we go into our business as usual chop fest again ... wouldn't be surprised to see vix back in the single digits again this week
I think it is first time for me to see the VIX staying below of 10 for so long, usually it pops back above of 10 pretty quickly
At this point a huge up day this week could take the VIX to 8s I am kinda tempted to get in for a small position and be ready to average down if the VIX takes another leg down, but I am not in VIX yet right now. If you already have a lot of long positions on equities, I think it is not a bad idea at all to buy a little bit of a VIX here to protect yourself. Good luck
http://www.schaeffersresearch.com/c...do-this-for-first-time-since-financial-crisis The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) is on pace to end below 10 for the first time since before the financial crisis. What's more, a single-digit close for the VIX -- also known as the stock market's "fear gauge" -- today would send up a signal seen just three other times ever, according to data from Schaeffer's Senior Quantitative Analyst Rocky White.
No haven't seen it before, people who trade options frequently probably would be interested in it I use Optionshouse for options, I got the old pricing of $5 for the first 5 contracts, pricing for new customers is $4.95 plus $0.50 per contract though.
but what would be the proper etf to buy? dont they all have that contango thing that can screw you up?
VXZ probably is the best play if you are planning to hold for awhile to bet on the VIX to rise, it is less volatile than the VXX. Like you said due to the decay, it should be a short term trade rather than long term hold especially for the VXX. The easiest way probably is just long or short the VIX itself through options.
The earnings from DIS will be interesting to watch. A lot of media companies got hammered after earnings, will be interesting to hear how bad is ESPN is
@Ken34 : Are you still in OPK? I recently started a position but its solely based on how its CEO (Dr. Frost) keeps buying this stock almost daily.
