Yes, there are. But, if you consider that essentially the original band is still alive, together and still making records, there really is no other band to compare to them.
Rolling Stones are alright, but they missed the video era largely. Weird Al on the other hand...a career of taking great songs and turning them into something greater.
may I present exhibit #1 to the jury. this one has a special place with me as my first ever girlfriend is named angie. enjoy!
the boys are going on tour in 2019. name one band with the original core members that can say that 50 years after inception. can't be done. i rest my case, your honor.
First, I agree with you about the Stones...hands down "greatest Rock n Roll band to ever walk the planet." But, second, and being nit-picky here, the Stones do not have all their original core members: Bill Wyman, and band co-founder Brian Jones (both of whom I would argue were "original core members" given their contributions to the sound of those 1960s and early 70s LPs) are both alive and no longer with the band. Also, Ronnie Wood joined sometime in the 1970s. But I can name a band that has been around for 50 years, still tours, and has it's original founding members: The Turtles aka Flo-n-Eddie (since 1965-ish I think). Ha ha, not "greatest" by any stretch, but there ya have it -- challenge met. (Now, where can I get my Stones tickets??? )
