im in 50% cash, was expecting the market to react negatively to a good number, i hope we are in for a wild day so i can do some shopping

Futures tumbled Wednesday morning after the Labor Department reported consumer prices rose 2.1% over the past year. Inflation rose more than economists had predicted. The Dow is set to open 300 points lower.

Yes and in their currency section they are still saying that the dollar rises after inflation data when the dollar index is now off about 0.6% now lol
Market seems to be fine with higher rates at least for now The dollar dropping probably is helping this market right now
I had thought there was a possibility of a deeper re-trace for a long reentry. But didn't happen. It's going to what I mentioned as a fair value for the market without the re-trace. But, regardless, in this environment, it's better to manage risk and protect your capital.
hey @Ken34 and everyone else, my apologies for this late response in here. so, i haven't really been paying much attention to the market action today. unfortunately my old man is down with the flu, with his condition worsening. been busy all morning/afternoon running errands like a mad man. this flu outbreak is one of the worst i have ever seen. mom just got over it the other week, but looks like my father is really taking it much much worse. praying for him. anyway, my posting activity may be sparse for a bit here. i'll still try to get around to running the stock picking competitions and everything, but as far as intraday stuff will be down to a minimum until my dad's health is at least back up to par. hope everyone is making out nicely this week!
Cy, hope you dad will get well soon. Yeah the flu outbreak seems to be very bad in this country (maybe around the world) this year. I took a flu shot few weeks ago just to be safe.
thx everyone! really greatly appreciate all the well wishes in here. i'm happy to report that he's feeling slightly better right now and has his appetite back (for the moment), which is a huge sigh of relief as it looked pretty dire for much of the day. tamiflu should be kicking in now. anyway, wow it looks like i missed a big day today! got a lot of catching up to do, but looks like we're right at halfback of the down move here (2700ish). i thought we'd get there, but not today. looks like we'll extend the win streak to 4.
Hope the best for your dad bigbear0083. I know you're doing the best you can for him, and that is a lot. Lucky I have not gotten this bad flu (so far).
So glad I sold BIIB yesterday. Whole dang industry is looking bad (REGN, CELG), and this chart isn't so crazy any more. Their drug prices are an issue to all colors of politicians.
