I monitor my portfolios and model trading strategies using Microsoft Excel. I am frustrated that I haven't been able to find a free or even cheap real-time data (price, bid, ask, volume, time, etc) that I can stream into Excel. Does anybody have a good ideas?
I used to use excel for stock prices, but then they disabled the feature and couldn't find another one that worked even after doing some research for it. I'm thinking you'll either have to transfer over to Google spreadsheets or use some other program/app. Maybe someone else will have a better answer, but I found nothing when Yahoo finance stopped working in Excel.
This might not be able to do what you want; I don't know if it even gets today's data until after markets close. But there's something at http://investexcel.net/multiple-stock-quote-downloader-for-excel/ maybe you can alter his macro, or talk to him.
