hoping for all the best @stock1234 i think i last heard that it was only downgraded to a cat 4 as of now ... really hoping it gets downgraded to either a cat 1 or tropical storm status at the very minimum once it reaches you guys but honestly idk ... does not look too promising as of now
yo oldie i see you lurking out there been missing ya on here man thankfully we're almost through the summer doldrums ... i'm sooo looking forward to September and having most people back from summer break
kind of an interesting stat i just came across this morning. but since 1950, the SPX has been up each month from april through august only 5 times. this year could make it 6. in each of those instances the final 4 months of year has been up every time with an avg. gain of close to +11%. also, i did not realize this but the SPX has closed above its 200sma for 100 consecutive trading days. it closed below it only once back in april, which ended a streak of 442 days above it. a 71 day streak preceded after that, which also ended with 1 day below it after brexit. so in other words it has only spent 2 days below the 200sma over the past 615 trading days
so, what are you guys eyballin' today? anything noteworthy? looks like indices spiked down around 11am-ish ... i'm not really keeping up with the news or the markets today already recouped half that going into the lunch hour. ignore the noise and btfd. same old song and dance
Thank You so much Cy. Yeah it is definitely weakening slower than expected. They are still forecasting tropical force wind rather than hurricane force wind when the hurricane comes close to here, I guess hope for the best.
Looks like a pretty boring day, I am off today from work but paying more attention to the hurricane news than the market AMD doing really well today, up over 6%
New-home sales sink to a 9-month low as housing market wobbles https://www.marketwatch.com/story/n...onth-low-as-housing-market-wobbles-2018-08-23 So the red hot housing market finally cooling down now? Earlier this year was so good for the sellers here, I do see the houses staying in the market longer now at least for here in Hawaii
please do keep us posted on the latest. hopefully no power outages or the like. i'll be tuning in to the weather channel most likely this evening to see the latest track. tuned in very briefly just a minute ago to see what the latest models were showing and it looks like at least the "eye" of the storm isn't actually projected to pass over the big island. but, unfortunately that doesn't mean much since the outer bands can still be quite damaging. also, i think i heard that the east side of the storm is the most powerful, which is expected to lay the biggest impact on the main island. hoping for the best...
another interesting stats i came across this afternoon is that after the SPX has had a 5 month winning streak, it is almost always higher 12 months later. since 1950, 23 out of the 24 times it was up. there was a 5 month win streak last august as well. while this month is not over yet, but the spx is up about +16% since then ... not bad
I will for sure as long as I don’t have any power outage, again Thank You Cy Looks like we will begin to feel the impact here in Honolulu tomorrow afternoon or night, so I should still be able to post some comments here during the market hours
Good day today! Back to market highs!.. AMD on a tear!... Dumb bankers downgraded DLTH, but they upgraded PYPL.. Now im all green, except POST
I guess market likes what they heard from Jason Hole Looks like dollar is weak today and gold is bouncing
