Everybody should be back from vacation now. Are they going to be in a buying mood or back to the selling?

Stay tuned, we find out this week!

My feeling is that the selling could be done for now until the start of the earnings season. If we see some bad guidance for future quarters then selling could be coming back really quickly. We will see :D

stumbled across this chart earlier today and thought it was worth a quick share in here

interestingly, the $nymo hasn't vacillated between 2 extremes (overbought and oversold) quite this much in such a short amount of time since, get this, march 2009

anything above 80 (+ or -) is pretty extreme ... i guess goes to show just how crazy these past couple of weeks in the markets have been :p

Tell me about it. Epic divergence is setting up; I got to see how this resolves itself.

Looks like they are crediting the move on Saudi saying that they will cut production in the coming months

US weekly jobless claims fall more than expected
    • The number of Americans filing applications for jobless benefits fell more than expected last week.
    • The data pointed to a strengthening labor market that could further ease concerns about the economy's health.
    • Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell 17,000 to 216,000 for the week ended Jan. 5, the Labor Department said.

Yeah M lowered its guidance. AAL also lowered guidance this morning. Market holding up well though despite more and more companies missed on their earnings  Could be the selloff in December already priced the bad news in, or traders are playing “bad news is good news again” since bad news means the FED will be dovish :p

Seems like some retail and airlines stocks bounced well off the lows after being dragged down by M and AAL this morning. After the Christmas Eve, BTFD seems to be back in favor again :p
