well i'm not really following the season too closely here, but i was wondering for those of you that are, have there been any surprises up to this point in the season? i know it's still kind of early, and things don't really get too interesting until next spring i guess
I think biggest surprise is how bad the Rockets are this year, they had the best records in the league last season
Just got a text msg from my bro-in-law early this afternoon about possibly getting tix to the NBA ASG here in Charlotte on Sunday. Because, let's face it, how often do you get an opportunity to go to an NBA ASG when it comes to your home city, like what, every 3 decades? I'll keep you guys posted on if I got tix or not. Game is obviously sold out in a big way. But I believe he is trying to get them from his work. We'll see! I've never experienced an NBA All-Star Game so this would be a real treat.
haha, i wish i could say i was in attendance on sunday night, but sadly i was not. i had flu-like symptoms over this past weekend, so i unfortunately could not go. i got checked up early this AM and thankfully no flu, just a really bad case of a head cold...which was likely passed on by my nephew as usual it's not all bad news though...i am actually trying to see if i can get tix to the hornets/warriors game next monday night. looks like amazingly there are still tix available. i'll let you know if i can make it happen this time! truthfully i would take going to a hornets/warriors game over an ASG any day since it is actually a "meaningful" game haha.
I created a March Madness bracket group on Yahoo, you guys can join if interested https://tournament.fantasysports.ya...1/invitation?key=c45a18f3c87d6748&soc_trk=lnk
Done! Thank you for creating and sharing your link @stock1234 Been so terribly swamped lately, did not even see your post until I checked here. Thank goodness I did, I likely would have missed filling in a bracket this year had it not been for you posting your link. Very thankful for that.
whelp my bracket is pretty much wrecked right off the bat with that very first game today ... dang it Louisville!
so...how 'bout them dubs eh? 5th straight finals appearance for them, and the longest finals run in the nba since the celtics did it back in the 50s i like how they've done it w/o a few of their stars like durant, etc. this is reminiscent of the warriors of old (the one that won a record 73 regular season games that one year). if gs wins it again here, i think we gotta start bringing them into the mix of all time great dynasties, not just in the nba but for all pro sports. if we're just strictly talking nba though, then i think they're up there along with the bulls, lakers, celtics, etc. anyway, hoping for a great series against toronto...i'll be rooting for a 7-game series. but, i would like to see the dubs finish it off, because i think this is one of the greatest dynasties i might ever witness in any sport.
Yeah the Warriors are definitely in the consideration for one of the greatest dynasties of all time Great front office, Durant was the only big time free agent that they brought in, they drafted Curry, Green, and Thompson, etc. I want to see a new winner and I tend to like to root for the underdog, so I will go with the Raptors If Raptors somehow is able to pull a miracle off against the Warriors then Leonard probably would be considered as the best player in the NBA
I didn't watch much of the game, just the last 6 minutes of game time. The whole brouhaha about Cousins goaltending made the game for me. They took several minutes ("instant" replay) and the replay doofus saying he couldn't make the call, well guess what? They went with the call the refs made. Thanks for your time. TV blabbermouth Van Gundy trying to convince us that it was a "big call". Well he was quieted real quick by a couple of 3s that swung the game Golden State's way. Thanks Klay Thompson, you really are underrated. I have a big issue with the way replay is done, and this goes for the NBA and NFL, and NCAA. Basically reviewing every little play, is killing the flow of the game. Sure, take the time to review a play that determines the outcome of the game. But instead they have been taking 3-5 minutes to review a play in the first half, and the game ends up being a 20 point blowout. Even the Cousins goaltending -- Golden State would have still been losing by one. It just takes 10 seconds to make an acceptable ruling. 30 seconds max, and we'd better be back to game play.
I don’t like the Warriors and Durant that much to be honest, but it was sad to see Durant suffering such a serious injury last night
^^ this in addition, that was pretty classless (or at least i thought so) by the TO fans that started cheering soon as Durant went down with the injury after that happened i suddenly found myself rooting for the Dubs bigly i'm rooting for a 7 game series, and still would like to see GS take it just to put the icing on the cake of one of the greatest dynasties i may ever witness in professional sports but i like Leonard, one of the nicest guys you will find in the NBA, which is a rarity nowadays wouldn't mind to see him win another
It really puts a stain on things if GS doesn't win this. Not sure how good this Toronto team this year is, because for years it felt like the Eastern Conference was cannon fodder for the West. And LeBron Cavaliers owned Toronto when he was in the East. I suppose things changed this year, I wanted to see Milwaukee go to the Finals, they were an interesting team that sucked at shooting the 3 yet had the best record this year. Also Philadelphia is putting some impressive players together. Big Stain for Curry if he can't lead GS back to beat Toronto. I feel like Durant was vindicated in going to GS to win rings. There's a difference in joining a winning team, versus what he did: join an established winning team and become their #1 option.
