Hello, I recently experience a couple whammies to my life: I was laid off late last year and in February I lost most of my vision. I’m currently in the process of claiming disability. I have a small amount in my 401k that is still with my previous employer. I was looking into rolling it over into a traditional IRA (which is pre-tax, right?) but I think I read about not being able to continue contributing if I’m on disability since it doesn’t count as earnings. I’m not very knowledgeable about investing but I’m trying to learn quickly given my new situation.

Does this mean my only option is to keep my money in the 401k until retirement? I don’t plan on withdrawing it until retirement age (even though I’m not able to work anyhow). I’d appreciate advice to help me understand my options.
