FedEx Corporation (FDX) is an American global courier delivery services company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. The name "FedEx" is a syllabic abbreviation of the name of the company's original air division, Federal Express, which was used from 1973 until 2000. The company is known for its overnight shipping service, but also for inventing a system that could track packages and provide real-time updates on package location (to help in finding lost packages), a feature that has been copied by most of the other carrier services.

Between the E and the X

I worked at Fedex for a year right after Highschool, and the wife works there now.... Not much has changed..... Funny how these big companies can have such piss poor management and still succeed

What branch does your wife work for? My wife and I both work for FedEx Trade Networks. Customs brokerage and all that good stuff. Every company has their flaws but FedEx is a damn good company to work for with the benefits and everything they offer.

She works at the Alliance Ft Worth hub.. same place I worked

You're right about the benefits!... In fact, that's the only reason she's still there... Her benefits practically outweigh her pay check

Number wise, it's a good company to work for... but ground level, it's fight or flight

Staffing is their biggest sub par issue... They have an alarming turnover rate for such a good company, and they don't know how to use the personnel they actually keep

I saw it back when I was there, and I still hear about it every day now...... little old ladies humping 50- 60 lb boxes all night while big strong men spend their nights in the doc sort, pushing paper envelopes

And advancements based on seniority rather than performance leaves people in charge of operations they know nothing about..... In fact, the reason I left at 19 years old was a manager we nicknamed "screaming Lisa".... we were the poorest performing department in the whole hub and cycled through about 90% of our staff TWICE in one year... but nobody connected the dots

I'm sure this is far from isolated, and every big corporation has similar inefficiencies.... which is my whole point... amazing how none of these monster corporations fall apart from within

You 100% right about the turnover and promotions based on seniority and not performance. I've lost out on a couple promotions (and so has my wife) because of people that have seniority even though I could do the job better in my sleep but oh well. Where I works is all desk jobs doing data entry and even though I hate sitting the benefits keep me here too.

I was a DG agent.. documenting and loading all haz cargo for my flights... ended up being useful in the long run, now I'm a hazmat trucker hauling liquid natural gas

My wife is a flight lead out on the ramp... She oversees all the loading procedures and back checks all the weigh/balance paperwork... More responsibility than a manager for about 1/4th the pay

FedEx to give wage increases and bonuses to workers
    Source: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/com...e-increases-and-bonuses-to-workers/ar-AAvcTTk

FedEx says it will give wage increases and bonuses and make a voluntary $1.5 billion contribution to the company's pension plan, citing recent tax reform legislation.

The package delivery company follows others doing the same, including Home Depot, Disney, Starbucks and Walmart.

FedEx Corp. said Friday that it'll raise compensation by more than $200 million, with about two-thirds going to hourly workers by pushing up this year's annual pay increases to April 1st from the normal October date. The rest of the money will fund increases in performance-based incentive plans for salaried personnel.

The company said it will also invest $1.5 billion to expand its FedEx Express facility in Indianapolis over the next seven years. Later this year it will announce plans to modernize its Memphis hub.

Anyone else follow this one? It's been on a run lately thanks to all the extra online shopping due to COVID. I have a small position through an ESPP and it's been treating me well.
