The Giga Berlin cell manufacturing facility has been designed to be able to scale to produce sufficient cells for 4M vehicles per year plus a whole lot of stationary storage.

For some reason, Tesla is scaling up the largest cell factory in Berlin. It is planned to be expandable to 250GWh/year.

I'm not sure why this factory is this scale. Elon specifically cited Berlin as the largest Tesla battery plant.

Hmm. Hadn't considered it. Figured it was just the next evolution in the factories moving forward. I think they are doing a lot of energy business in europe. I wonder if that has anything to do with the plan?

Elon mentioned Giga Berlin being the biggest Tesla cell production. Perhaps he isn't talking about Texas, yet? They did massive ground works and are building an epic sized complex in Austin. What's more, this is just the first phase.

Shanghai battery production, based on building footprint, will never be on the scale of Berlin. Perhaps Tesla plans many factories in China or perhaps they aren't as confident about that investment. ... or maybe they just did the best they could with the land they have.

I haven't worked up a guestimate on whether Shanghai can be self-sufficient for cells with the building size they have. I'm not sure it's all that relevant.

If Tesla buys SpaceX, Boring etc. then are we looking at a bull case of $10000?

Here is the full interview which it was for European Battery Conference, thus it is not surprised that Giga Berlin is in the spotlight.

Giga Texas is growing at a rapid speed, and the construction is operating 24/7. Everything is bigger in Texas, it is safe to assume that it will be the biggest Tesla cell production.

Perhaps Tesla will build a new Gigafactory in Asia (i.e. Indonesia) to supply the cells to Giga Shanghai.

I too have a couple calls on tsla. Im a long shares for yrs to come. That said, anyone trying to trade this run up, from a charting pattern, i would be extremely leery of buying any new calls right now. Today’s candlesticks formed a shooting star after an extreme runup. It could of course gap up on monday, but i have been thinking im puShing my luck on this run up since $550. Just my .02 for the short term traders.

Tesla is building a second factory in Shanghai. The new facility will be used to make charging stations and is planned to come online in 2021.

I read an article that due to TSLA getting added to SP500, index funds managers need to raise cash to buy TSLA. This is good for TSLA and bad for other stocks because those managers will need to sell other stocks to raise the money. Which other stocks are they going to sell? They must be those that are already in the SP500 but now their percentage in the index is reduced to make room for TSLA. These are the stocks and maybe others. Is my thinking right? Also the article said that a stock after being added to SP will tend to decline afterward.

Its true about having to make room to buy them. They are so big, it will take a LOT of funds. The stocks being sold, will most likely be under performers.
As far as the dip, this is historically true. But coming from a fanboy, who knows? There is a LOT in the pipeline. Any news could happen any day and rock the boat. For example, model Y just got chinese made approval in china. Which means the model Y ramp could happen any time. (Ahead of schedule), mind you. I would expect more excitement when it does.

stumbled upon this on hulu. haven't watch it yet but know some of you would probably get a kick out of it.

    ----

Nikola Tesla (/ˈtɛslə/; Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Тесла;[2] pronounced [nǐkola têsla];[a] 10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was a Serbian-American[4][5][6] inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system.[7]

Born and raised in the Austrian Empire, Tesla studied engineering and physics in the 1870s without receiving a degree, gaining practical experience in the early 1880s working in telephony and at Continental Edison in the new electric power industry. In 1884 he emigrated to the United States, where he became a naturalized citizen. He worked for a short time at the Edison Machine Works in New York City before he struck out on his own. With the help of partners to finance and market his ideas, Tesla set up laboratories and companies in New York to develop a range of electrical and mechanical devices. His alternating current (AC) induction motor and related polyphase AC patents, licensed by Westinghouse Electric in 1888, earned him a considerable amount of money and became the cornerstone of the polyphase system which that company eventually marketed.

Attempting to develop inventions he could patent and market, Tesla conducted a range of experiments with mechanical oscillators/generators, electrical discharge tubes, and early X-ray imaging. He also built a wireless-controlled boat, one of the first ever exhibited. Tesla became well known as an inventor and demonstrated his achievements to celebrities and wealthy patrons at his lab, and was noted for his showmanship at public lectures. Throughout the 1890s, Tesla pursued his ideas for wireless lighting and worldwide wireless electric power distribution in his high-voltage, high-frequency power experiments in New York and Colorado Springs. In 1893, he made pronouncements on the possibility of wireless communication with his devices. Tesla tried to put these ideas to practical use in his unfinished Wardenclyffe Tower project, an intercontinental wireless communication and power transmitter, but ran out of funding before he could complete it.[8]

After Wardenclyffe, Tesla experimented with a series of inventions in the 1910s and 1920s with varying degrees of success. Having spent most of his money, Tesla lived in a series of New York hotels, leaving behind unpaid bills. He died in New York City in January 1943.[9] Tesla's work fell into relative obscurity following his death, until 1960, when the General Conference on Weights and Measures named the SI unit of magnetic flux density the tesla in his honor.[10] There has been a resurgence in popular interest in Tesla since the 1990s.[11]
