Slam me but this is 1 stock that I would go all in on and sleep good at night, most likely will only be 3 but this will always be over 50% of my holdings.
You had bought in pre split I would say, I would guess to say you still hold a sizeable position from reading through your post.
I bought my first tranche at $183 in 2016. At the time, it was a big investment, considering the risk. I didn't just buy a few shares. My wife wasn't entirely onside but it wasn't her money. I loaded up in 2019 at $186 with a much larger buy. My wife also didn't enjoy that, as it was a considerable chunk of my nest egg. Now I own 0 shares. Enjoy the ride, Rustic1. I did. Oh, and now my wife think's I'm a bloody genius. There was nightly head, for a while, and we're an older couple. It's true! Tesla makes people feel young. lol! Earning call tomorrow. There will be several audio streams but I try to get it from Tesla. There is no link yet on their IR web site but it should be there tomorrow. EC will likely be after end of trading, as per SOP. https://ir.tesla.com/
To be fair to my wife, there was nothing but shade and negativity coming out of every jackhole with a camera and Internet feed. We had everyone from Bob Lutz to Jim Chanos explaining to us that Tesla was dead. The only positive voice in the wilderness, Cathy Wood, was regularly shouted down on Squawk Box. I looked at the books and could see strong liquidity so I bought aggressively. It was a value investor's dream to have something so crystal clear. It wasn't even a decision. I went in heavy. Perhaps worthy of pointing out... In order to believe in Tesla, the following had to be true: - believe in my own analysis - believe in myself - have absolutely no respect for analysts, giving me an ability to literally dismiss an entire industry that indicated Tesla was a loser - realize the Jim Chanos' of the world control the media because they will put any asshole with a sensational point of view on the air and squelch anyone who has done hard work and careful analysis like Cathy Wood - realize big interests like oil can control the a significant portion of analysts and the others are not brave enough to dissent - realize there is very little news content so almost everything we hear came from one or two sources through the process of aggregation, making news seem more credible than it is. On the other hand... It wasn't difficult to look at Tesla with almost as much cash as debt, lower cost of production, higher production numbers than anyone else (in their market), a near infinite ability to innovate, and a huge demand problem (too much). The point is: I'm no oracle. I just do my best to not be a sheep.
Congrats Mr. Tom For those that don't know your pre split shares were multiplied ×5. Enjoy your just reward. You deserve it.
Two and a half hours before the EC, $TSLA is trading at $872. Deliveries for 2020 are up 35.87% YoY. Production for 2020 is up 39.58% YoY. A couple of weeks ago, Tesla released a very short video of wide roll, dry anode, production at a full boil. It was very impressive, indeed. That video was not accompanied by any text that I'm aware of and seemed to go largely unnoticed by the parrots on YouTube. I did notice an article on InsideEvs, so it's nice to see someone paying attention. I expect the financials to be almost adequate (record earnings, record spend, decent profit), an announcement of 4860 production at Roadrunner, and mostly non-financial discussion of positive new developments. Of key interest will be FSD. Given the video of a Model 3 driving itself from San Francisco to Los Angeles without intervention, I expect to hear good news with regard to FSD. It is my expectation this earnings call will provide a small, short term, market stimulus. Please, however, do not gamble based on my predictions as I have been wrong frequently in the past. GigaFactory status: Giga Berlin - I'm sure they will wrap this turd in dough and deep fry it but Berlin has had plenty of problems. There are some bright spots here, though. Giga Shanghai - After nonplussing the world with Giga Shanghai construction, the Chinese are now showing off. I watched a video of a multi-acre concrete pad being poured last Monday and there was a brand new, one story, building on it by Saturday. China is the 800# gorilla of the industrial world. Giga Texas - Hampered only by weather, this project has accelerated to a Chinese pace. Every day, there is another half acre framed in. It's astonishing. Tom's predictions: - Tesla will announce dry anode at reasonable levels but it will not be used in initial Model S-NG. It probably will be used in the Semi. - They will mention Roadrunner scaling but will not stress it. This is a key point for me, as their ability to scale their first battery plant will foreshadow plant scaling at the three new Giga Factories. - There seems to be some work on battery production at Giga Shanghai, and I'd love to hear what is happening, but I would guess they are keeping this close to the vest. - They will announce announcements of Model S-NG, Semi, etc. I don't expect specifics, just dates for these events.
Still no live stream link on ir.tesla.com. So, here is a link to the CleanTechnica YouTube channel of the live stream.
