I saw something a week or so ago saying Medina Spirit tested positive for drugs...? Anti inflammatory IIRC

Trainer Bob Baffert said Medina Spirit tested positive for the steroid betamethasone. Baffert said the test showed 21 picograms of betamethasone. While a picogram is a trillionth of a gram, the test is for picograms per milliliter, and a horse can have 50,000 milliliters of blood.

Rules in the state of Kentucky limits the use of the steroid to 14 days or more before a race. Any level of detection on race day is a violation.

"Bob Baffert, Medina Spirit’s trainer, admitted on Tuesday that he was responsible for the colt’s failed drug test, saying he had used an ointment for dermatitis that he was unaware contained the drug in question. He had previously offered various theories about how Medina Spirit tested positive for 21 picograms of betamethasone. While 21 picograms per milliliter of blood seems relatively small, said Dr. Mary Scollay, executive director and chief operating officer of the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium, a horse has about 50,000 milliliters of blood, so the result is not insignificant."

A good name for a race horse might be, "You're In Nation".

Derby winner, dies after collapsing post-workout
    9:48 AM

Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit collapsed and died after a workout Monday at Santa Anita.

The 3-year-old colt trained by Bob Baffert had just completed five furlongs in his second workout since finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Classic a month ago at Del Mar, according to Craig Robertson, Baffert's attorney. Baffert said in a statement that the horse suffered a heart attack.

I really like these names, one of the most solid fields of names I've seen. LOL at Cyberknife. Summer is Tomorrow is totally a 90s scenecore band name. Messier will have to spend a couple minutes in the penalty box before he finishes the race. And why is Simplification such a long word?

my grandfather's last race horse (way back) was named "rock n rye" (rocky). Grandfather ultimately had to leave Denmark to come here to do what he loved (raise/train race horses) which had family disowning/disinheriting him. He had an amazing way w/his horses, so much so that he could put lump of sugar between his lips & Rocky (only 1 saw as young one) would gently take it. Unlike many race horses, my grandfather didn't sell Rocky so he only had 1 owner, which makes a huge difference imo - no abandonment issues etc. Their relationship was incredible & was hard watching my grandfather going out to the upper paddock for the last time w/gun in his hand to put his beloved friend down & then bury him. That image of this old man with white hair & his old horse walking towards each other for the last time is one i will never forget - it was like something out of a movie. The end

If i had a race horse then i would prob name him "thunder heart" or something with thunder bc he would be a force to be reckoned with lol
