ARK’s thematic investment strategies span market capitalizations, sectors, and geographies to focus on public companies that we expect to be the leaders, enablers, and beneficiaries of disruptive innovation. ARK’s strategies aim to deliver long-term growth with low correlation to traditional investment strategies.
I think the Resolute take-over talk will amount to either nothing or a long term distribution agreement between ARK and Resolute. I don't see Resolute actually taking control of ARK under any circumstances. [Edit] If Cathy Wood leaves ARK and forms a new fund, I expect most/all of her team to follow. Certainly, I will follow her to the new fund, as would the bulk of the rest of the fund owners. The most plausible impetus to announce a take-over bid is extortion. [/Edit] Please opine.
I have a lot of respect for Cathie Wood. She has been in front of a lot of growth sectors with market beating research and reasonably well thought out positions. The reason I don't own ARKK and will not is because she is also a trader. Imagine how high ARKK would be if she didn't trade? Traders trade. You absolutely cannot show someone the error of their ways. It is a rare person who operates in one fashion, realizes it is not successful, and stops doing the self destructive behavior. This is why I have not purchased ARKK with the assumption that Cathie Wood will stop trading. She might, and I hope she does, but it is unlikely.
