A nice FAT gain for me today in my stocks. the red....HD and GOOGL. Plus a good beat on the SP500 by......0.51%. A very good.....HUMP DAY. With NVDA powering into the close today.......if that carries through to tomorrow....we might see some good momentum to close out the week.
In that case…..we are almost like royalty On another issue, if things aren’t looked after, I wonder about security measures with the site. Could that be a concern at some point?? I would think some sort of updates and maintenance would be something that would need attention, but maybe I’m wrong on that.

I agree completely. Gold and Silver are a HUGE FAD right now. BUT...over the long term....no way. They are simply like all commodities....they earn nothing, they pay no dividends, they have no fundamentals, they are pushed by dealers and sales people and TV advertising. They are timing vehicles......they are BOOM and BUST. AND....over my lifetime I cant remember a single person that I know of that has bootstrapped a pile of gold or silver into long term wealth. Silver, Revisited Boom-and-bust commodities still aren’t stores of value. https://www.fisherinvestments.com/en-us/insights/market-commentary/silver-revisited
Investor predictions. Those two words dont even go together. Actual investors dont buy or sell or ivnest based on.....predictions....they buy and sell and hold for the long term based on fundamental business data for very specific companies that they own. Anyone buying or selling stocks based on "predictions is NOT an investor. They are a trader or speculator. When it comes t investing......a prediction by a human is simply a....GUESS. Or worse....wild ass GAMBLING. Invest Like You Are Bad at Making Predictions https://behaviouralinvestment.com/2025/10/08/invest-like-you-are-bad-at-making-predictions/ Humans and their brains.....a dangerous combination. Your brain will FOOL YOU every time. The greatest danger to any investor is.......YOU.
The SP500 is in the red today.....BUT....is still at 6752. Right on the cusp of my 2025 year end prediction of 6800 to 6900......with nearly three months left. LOL....after the post above...here I am talking about a "PREDICTION" that I made at the start of the year. BUT.....for me this is simply a fun game....I did NOT invest anything based on this or any prediction.
With RED across the board....here is the markets today. Of course the SP500 and NASDAQ reached new highs yesterday. S&P 500 and Nasdaq touch fresh record highs https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/08/stock-market-today-live-updates.html
Here is a good little summary of COSTCO stock and recent earnings and reports. They just released September numbers that were NICE. Costco Stock Surges Amid Retail Gloom – Will $900+ Shares Keep Climbing? https://ts2.tech/en/costco-stock-surges-amid-retail-gloom-will-900-shares-keep-climbing/ OF course the stock has NOT been climbing lately. Why would anyone buy a retail company for around $1000....when the entire tech world....AI.....and most of the other types of companies that lead the business world can be bought for a much lower price per share. The stock is STUCK.....not because of anything fundamental...but because of psychology. THE PRICE IS TOO HIGH......for the average retail investor to stomach...regardless of fundamentals. It should be adjusted to somewhere between about $100 and $200 per share with a....STOCK SPLIT. Either five for one or ten for one. If you believe the old market belief that stock splits are NEUTRAL.....why would you not split the stock. If you believe that stock splits are not neutral and drive a stock higher due to the PR and BUZZ of the split publicity...why would you not split the stock? The only good news is the potential for a December SPECIAL DIVIDEND....as they have done in the past. Of course....that results in TAXES for most shareholders. I wold much rather see them keep that money and invest it in the company capital assets....not share buybacks.....and instead do a split. WAKE UP COSTCO.

This is really a NON-ISSUE since it is easy to....."predict"......ok make that "calculate"...... what the increase for 2026 is likely to be. It is likely the increase for next year will be....2.7% or 2.8%. Any delay in the announcement is......as usual...IRRELEVANT. The markets are pausing so far today. Probably a good thing with all the recent all time highs. A day or two for consolidation is simply....NORMAL. So far today is as slow of a news day as I have seen in a long time. it seems to be a PRE-EARNINGS pause in the media. Earnings will start next week with the usual big banks. On a slow open.....I have two stocks GREEN right now....NVDA and COST. A BORING day.
I will soon ABANDON the markets....and go outside to put up our Halloween yard decorations. We try to do good for the kids at Halloween. We buy the big...full size.... candy bars and boxes of candy. We usually have a good selection.....Baby Ruth, Butterfingers, Dots, Starburst, Reece's, and a few others. What is popular varies every year. It is interesting to see what goes fast each year. We normally go through about 80-100 items. We usually have one or two popular candies that are free of peanuts....for any kids that have allergies. We do a yard display and items on our front steps that are lighted. We also do LED bats and witches hats suctioned to a couple of windows on the inside. It usually takes me about an 1-2 hours to set everything up and get the power run for various lights. Our little neighborhood of about 80 homes is very active when it comes to decorations for Halloween...probably about 75% or more of the homes put out decorations. We tend to be one of the more decorated neighborhoods in our area of 4200 homes for Halloween and Christmas.

Sounds like you guys go all out for Halloween, W - I love it! Wish I could bring my 2-year old daughter to your neighbourhood. Halloween was never really a thing over here, not when I was a kid...but it has gained massive popularity over the last 10 years or so. Looking forward to decorating our house with my daughter and waiting for the trick-or-treaters to arrive.
Speaking of Halloween..... I remember many, many years ago as a young kid going out on the trick or treat adventure. We were in a very rural area, but there was a particular stretch of road (yes, it was a small 2-lane paved road..lol) and we would travel along it for a few miles to each of the little farmhouses and get our goodies. Of course, back then it was different....no worries about any bad folks or areas. We certainly made a haul of candy. We were pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but all the little countryside residents participated. Oh....the good old days.
@Smokie I have hit another ATH today. Good times for sure. I've been meaning to try and post more but haven't had much say. Being a long term investor I don't plan on making moves. I will say that AMD has been on a tear the last week! I no longer owned the company but did for years and it treated me well. That's the company that taught me what my risk tolerance was (or better, the one that greatly increased it!) 401K: 21.29% YTD (ATH today) HSA: 40ish% YTD (ATH today, I don't have a quick check on overall return on this one) Brokerage: 40.67% TYD (ATH today) The wife new Brokerage: 53.97% YTD (ATH today, Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!)
