I have seen a lot of these articles attacking passive....INDEX....investing lately. Plus this one attacks the AI investing boom. Certainly not my cup of tea....but......here you go. It would be interesting if EVERY financial writer had to attach a copy of their holdings, trading history, and investment returns to every article. It would be HUGE EYEOPENER....no doubt.

Opinion: This is the dumbest stock market in history
    Wisdom of crowds, indeed

I am interested in the market movement of GOLD and SILVER....even though I do not consider them an actual investment. I consider this"stuff" about the same as...bitcoin. If you are tempted....my view is that a holding of about 1% to 3%....of your total investments is about right.....for those that want to own some. AND....my opinion is that at these high prices there is.....SIGNIFICANT RISK.

The.....wild and crazy....markets so far today. I have some doubt that the early gains can hold for the day....but I hope so. Simply an event driven RELIEF RALLY at the open....about as rational as the drop on Friday. Neither event is significant beyond the very short term.

Looks like JP MORGAN is jumping on the....USA, USA,......bandwagon. Next thing they will be sounding like PLTR executives. DIMON is so full of BS....not that this is a bad thing for them to invest in. I hate how the media fawns over him and hangs on every word. He is actually WRONG in his market predictions much of the time.....all he really cares about is publicity and creating advantages for....JPMorgan. Of course that is his job.....so i would take anything he says with a LARGE grain of salt.

JPMorgan Chase says it will invest $10 billion into industries critical for national security

The key phrase here being....."long term". Bad news for those that are trying to....strike it rich. There is a HUGE amount of delusional thinking among younger people....especially males. Financial success is like success in anything....hard work and lots of effort. Discipline and focus.

I am starting the day very nicely with my eight stocks. I have a single stock down right now....guess which one....COSTCO. They continue to be stuck in a trading range well below their 52 week high.

They would be a pretty good trading vehicle.......except the stock is way too high...to use for short term trading on the constant up and down action.

Guess what they need to do to get out of this....SPLIT THE STOCK......somewhere between 5 for one and 10 for one. Their stock price is simply WAY TOO HIGH for a retail company.....even if it is justified.

I dont know if it is due to the government shut-down....but these no-news market days are wonderful. There has been a huge drop in all the focus on fear-mongering, the FED, the corrupt and distorted government data, etc, etc. ALL the topics that really nave NOTHING to do with investing. LOVE IT.

Yeah, these articles have been around for sometime. Of course, they all want that money into their "active" management. That is really the deal. They are not offering up this "wisdom" because they want to do you a favor or look out for your interests. I understand that, they want to make money too.

However, I can purchase a broad market fund and get market returns, I can get it dirt cheap, and I can let it do the work. Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. It is simple and it has worked for many, many investors. I doubt that changes anytime soon.

There are a ton of companies/advisors who really do want your money to manage. That is a decision each investor must decide. If one goes that route....research well, read the fine print and then do it again before deciding. Take the time to do your homework. You are going to be paying for it, so you need to know what it is you are paying for. Be skeptical and spend some time looking at it.

Keep after it. They will eventually hear you and do it.:)

Looking at their split history, it doesn't appear to happen too often. Once in 1993 and once in 2000 (If that's correct).

The "shutdown" continues as mentioned above. I wonder if this one will take the record on the longest period (34 days). Some sources list it at (35). There is probably a gambling bet or app about this.....or an ETF...

SO.....they are saying the "truth"....in this little article. It was traders in leveraged ETF's that were a bit contributor to the quick and deep drop on Friday.

As traders....in a PANIC....sold positions in levered ETFs.......dealers.......had to sell actual stock to remain hedged this RAMPED up the volatility, and pushed the selloff big time as the day progressed..

The drop pushed derivatives market makers into a state known as negative gamma, short hand for a market where dealers must sell stock into a rout or buy into a rally, adding momentum in either direction.

Levered ETFs sold ~$26 billion in equities into the close....in order to keep hedged. The big outflows pushed option dealers to short gamma.

This is what happens with all the derivative and leveraged products now engulfing the markets....the GAMBLING nature of the modern markets. This sort of BS......leaves the markets very fragile an subject to being jerked around as traders react.

AND.....these things are plain vanilla compared to all the prediction markets and products that are out there now being pushed as investing. In reality simply GAMBLING.

JPMorgan Blames Pace of Friday’s Stock Selloff on Levered ETFs

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/jpmorgan-blames-pace-friday-stock-155649353.html

Of course in my suspicious mind this announcement by JPMorgan makes me wonder what or if they had to do with the big drop since they are now blaming others. Of course...I am NOT saying they did.

Of course.....they are big on Rare Earth materials. BUT....why not......after all we have the money and ability to help those in our hemisphere for the good of all countries here. If we can help with these types of situations...we should.

ALL GREEN for me today in my eight stocks. ALSO.....a BIG GAIN for me today.

Today....I beat the SP500 by 0.37%. Not bad since the SP500 had a gain today of +1.58%.

The SP500 moved back to 6654. So I still have a ways to go to hit my prediction of SP500......6800 to 6900....for the year. Plenty of time left to hit my guess....if the markets dont continue to screw with me every time I get close.
