I currently sit on a year to date gain of....+22%.

In any rational world this should be EPIC....for me and most investors. BUT.....the insanity of the day to day markets is a constant BUMMER.

i guess the big lesson this year is to simply....IGNORE it all. Of course....posting on here every day does not make that possible. So I end up being an investor SCHIZOPHRENIC.....a long term investor for life.....but....commenting on the day to day markets.

I try to start out each day looking for and posting any content I can find that deals with LONG TERM INVESTING. A lot of days I am successful and get to post two or three or four articles about the long term. THAT....is the real message for investors and readers of this thread.

The day to day stuff...all the drama and fear-mongering, and BS.....is MEANINGLESS. It is the "stuff" that we have to ENDURE as long term investors. Over the long term it does show one thing.....that no matter how INSANE the short term is......we can continue to put up good returns over each year and into the long term.

That is the BIG message of this thread....that IN SPITE of all that happens......success is still possible.

We are ALL in control of our own life and the destiny of our family.

As "little people"......we have perhaps one or two routes to get to financial success and family security......the stocks markets....the real estate markets.....and....small business. For me it was business....earlier in my life which gave me the initial resources to put into the stock markets and build wealth.

I say to ANYONE reading this thread.....I make this CHALLENGE to anyone reading this thread.....will YOU join us? Will you take the first step to financial security? Will you become a LONG TERM INVESTOR?

There is no need to repeat how to do this.....the thread contains just about ALL you need to know to get started. What is key is YOUR dedication and desire to do more in your life and create INDEPENDENCE for yourself and hopefully one or two generations in your family.

Whether you can join this site or not....whether you post or not....JOIN US. Be SELFISH......do it for YOURSELF.

As to the above......I recommend that anyone just starting out on this thread......GO BACK AND READ THE FIRST 50-100 PAGES OF THIS THREAD.

I had a lot more motivation and time to post in detail back than. I have now been doing this thread for so long that it feels like repetition to me to rehash much of what I said in the past on here. There is a HUGE amount of detail and discussion in those early pages of the thread.

Those 50-100 initial pages of posts are the GUTS of what I advocate on here. Most of that old information is STILL......the TRUTH....when it comes to successful long term investing.

First the IMPORTANT news.....I toasted some pecans last night in the oven. I am prepping for the two pecan pies that I will make on Friday. We are doing family thanksgiving on Saturday since one of my kids and their husband are going to do Thanksgiving at the husbands brothers house with his family this year.

I will do two pies on Friday....so they can "age" a day before being used on Saturday. Of course I will be using my MOM'S old time Texas recipe. This recipe has been used in the family for about eighty years now....so....medium term.

A is my habit....I look for long term investing articles first thing each day and IGNORE the actual markets. here is a good one.

Some Perspective—and Discipline—for Recently Choppy Markets
Patience and discipline are always your friends.

    https://www.fisherinvestments.com/e...ve-and-discipline-for-recently-choppy-markets

A very nice little article on the basics of investing through corrections and bear markets. The conclusion:

".....we think investors’ best move is to practice patience and discipline and keep their long-term goals top of mind. Short-term reactions won’t get you anywhere in a correction or a bear market. Patience is the watchword."

A very nice open today to kick off the short thanksgiving week. ALL the big averages are in the green....with the best gains in the SP500 and the NASDAQ.

We have seen this picture before......what counts will be the close.

GOOGL has been on fire lately....and...it continues today. the stock is up by $17.25 or 5.8%.

I am having a good open with my little seven stocks. ALL are currently green except for COST. Although.....MSFT and NVDA are MILD in their gains so far today.

The continued weakness of NVDA and MSFT......strikes me as very SILLY. Not too long ago it was GOOGL and AAPL that were soft for weeks. I see no rational reason for this rotating big cap tech weakness. It is IRRATIONAL.

Just what we need....more (legal) market manipulation by a.....one hit wonder.

Michael Burry launches newsletter to lay out his AI bubble views after deregistering hedge fund

    https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/24/mic...ble-views-after-deregistering-hedge-fund.html

The media has loved the BURRY short story over the past week or two. It has all the elements that generate clicks.....DRAMA, FEAR, an eccentric personality, etc, etc, etc.

Although as I mentioned with some data previously on here....his record since his one big call in 2008/2009.....as a manager and investor....SUCKS.

Of course the bottom line....to get his little newsletter will cost you.....$379 a year. IMAGINE how that money could grow if you choose to NOT give it to him and simply put it in a SP500 Index ETF each year.

He is working hard to leverage his past FAME into money now....for HIMSELF. A perfect example of shameless self promotion and at the same time pushing his (past and/or present) short positions....by a minor celebrity.

ALL of us on here know this...of course. For LORI....this is a common thing that she sees with the people in her country.

BUT....there is still a HUGE number of people that do not invest and prefer the safety of cash. If you are young and working...... a preference for cash.....is often a HUGE MISTAKE.

Cash can feel safe, ‘but it doesn’t grow your wealth,’ portfolio strategist says

    https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/24/cas...ow-your-wealth-portfolio-strategist-says.html

........."For example, $10,000 in cash stuffed under the mattress 30 years ago — and earning zero interest — would be worth about $4,700 today after accounting for inflation, according to a BlackRock analysis. That’s a loss of roughly 53%, it found.

In other words, that pile of money can buy about half of what it could three decades ago.

Meanwhile, $10,000 invested in the S&P 500 U.S. stock index would be worth about $92,600, a return of about 826%, according to BlackRock."........

That is about it for today....other than a ROARING RALLY in the markets right now. the NASDAQ is now up by +440 points or.....+1.97%.

For me the day is STILL the same as I reported earlier, although my gain has grown some.....NVDA is still having issues moving beyond flat....GOOGL is booming....and COST is my only RED stock.

I am sure we will probably see pretty SHALLOW markets this week.

Thanksgiving has now MORPHED into a full week holiday.

Many people will take at least a four day weekend and MOST kids across the country are off for the entire week. The kids in our neighborhood are off all week, this week. When I was in school....pre-college in the 1950's and 1960's....we got Thursday off....that was it. We had to return to school on Friday.

Later in college in the late 1960's...... for the first time in my life...... Thanksgiving break was Thursday through Sunday....but many professors.....canceled class for Tuesday on or at worst Wednesday. That allowed many of us that had to travel to get home for Thanksgiving.

I did not have too far to go to get home for Thanksgiving....about 300 miles. But back than....it was still the era that the vast majority of kids....even in college....did not have a car. So..... going home for Thanksgiving for me and my sister was either a 12 hours bus ride....that stopped in every little town along the way.....or a flight on a tiny plane....flying out of the small airport in our very isolated little, rural, college town.

Talking abut the OLD DAYS and school breaks....of course when I was in school through High School graduation....there was no such thing as "Winter Break" or "Spring Break". Our holidays were a day at Thanksgiving and Christmas break. I think we got a couple of days off some time in the Spring for teacher conferences.

Of course I am talking about the really...... ANCIENT OLD DAYS.

Somehow we survived....growing up in Central Texas with no AC on the school busses or in the schools or in most cars. Each school room had a big floor fan and windows that opened wide.

At home....in my High School years....even though we lived in spacious four bedroom, two story, Military Officer housing.....we only had a single window AC window unit in the living room....on the first floor.....and a single AC window unit in my parents bedroom on the second floor.

With the short week we are seeing a very STRONG rally to start the week. A continuation of the positive day we saw on Friday.

I am HOPEFUL that we are in the process of breaking the back of the little correction we have experienced since the end of October.

BUT...time will tell. We have been in a pattern lately of BIG GAIN days being followed by......BIG DROP days. We need to break that pattern this week and move on into the last 4.5 weeks of the year on a positive footing.
