The above is....."what I got"....today. At least so far. The markets are going to do whatever they want anyway.

My job......IGNORE it all and hang in there for the long term. RIDING THE WAVE.

The start of a new year is always a chore. I start from ZERO.....and it always takes time to build up a positive cushion. Sometimes months. It is easy to get jumpy or impatient when starting a new year at ZERO. Especially when the year quickly turns negative and you are in a hole.

I am more of a college football guy but at least the playoff this weekend in the NFL gives me some mental distraction. It is also nice to be doing my CD project right now....another distraction.

Speaking of distractions....everyone here is talking about the big cold front that will hit on Saturday or Sunday. There is potential for an ICE STORM. I hate ice storms......they destroy all the trees and plants due to the extra weight of an inch or two of ice on them. They also cause much turmoil and fear.....kind of like politics and investing. A BIG MESS.

WXYZ.....Every stock that is the LEADER takes a little breather now and then, waiting for the pack to catch up, then when people have acclimated to the climate/price, the leaders press on forward. Mine are NVDA , GOOGL, MU (MICRON), and for my ETF's it is XLK and MAGS (An ETF that contains ONLY the mag 7)

Yes , ICE STORMS are horrible, they are like the FLUSHES or wringing out of the stock market (like Smokie? was talking about a couple pages ago), storms show us where our weak points are , so that we can learn and reinforce them for the next one. And it is up to us to either do something about it or not. Speaking of Texas, Have they hardened the oil lines since that freeze (back in 2021?) a couple years ago that froze the oil in the pipes and shut down your power plants ?

WXYZ, yes the drama reporting has also reached the financial channels and articles. It's a lot more dramatic to make a number controversial than to report that it is normal. That is where the politics can meet the real news. And the fact that it has come to that is a shame. It's even getting into power grabs for control of the companies that own the news outlets. Can we PLEASE just get the FACTS without your witty comment about this or that........That's why I'm here reading this vs the dribble on TV...........

Agreed. I was thinking a while back if there were any "news" broadcasts that are not serving either political party. I can't think of any at the moment. Most are blatantly obvious with it too. It would be nice to have something, but I think that train has long left the station. Kind of a disservice to many I think.

I guess they believe that is what the masses want. Maybe they are right. Certainly seems that way at times.

Divide and conquer. An educated and united populace is a danger to entrenched interests.

It's a shame, really, as most people just want to be able to live a peaceful life free from pain and drama. You'd never know that based on the frenzy they get whipped into to serve others' malignant goals.

True. In everyday life, I am around a lot of people. All sorts of backgrounds and such. I don't see or hear this media narrative among those interactions.

Neither do I , If I'm buying car parts, what does politics have to do what that ? I want to talk to the guy that's changed this part before, any tips he might have about whether to lift it out from the top or jack the car up and take it from below. Not what he thinks about Greenland !!!

EXACTLY what I try to do with my big cap growth stocks.

Warren Buffett Was Never Just a Value Investor. Here’s the Real Secret to His Investing Success
Data shows Buffett beat markets by investing in quality, not cheap stocks.

    https://www.morningstar.com/markets...estor-heres-real-secret-his-investing-success

........"Wu’s analysis examined Buffett’s top holdings from 1978 to 2024 and found something remarkable: Only 8% of his positions traded below book value. The median price/book ratio was 3.1, and the average was 7.9. Far from being a Graham-style bargain-hunter, Buffett systematically paid premiums for quality businesses."......

And another....."EXACTLY". In this case EXACTLY as you would imagine considering the Wall Street crowd and the so called "professionals" versus us little retail investors.

Although I cant see the article...the headline tells me all I need to know.

Retail traders keep their hot streak going, buying Tuesday’s dip while Wall Street drove ‘Sell America’ trade
