Hey Strathmore. I like SpaceX and Starlink in general. But I really dont know a lot about them other than media "stuff". As private companies they are very opaque.
As to gold and indirectly silver.......SHOCKING. "This is, in my opinion, the most interesting chart in all of finance. This shows the return from gold versus the total return of the S&P 500 since 1/1/2000. As you can see, gold’s return has exceeded that of stocks by almost 3 to 1; it isn’t even close. If you had bought gold at the turn of the century, at no point over the next 25 years would you have been better off having bought the S&P 500 instead. I like this POSITIVE take on the markets. "So be patient, and don’t let early 2026 wiggles shake you off that bull: Yet another “miracle” is likely on the way." After stock market roared in 2025, a 2026 ‘miracle’ awaits for those with patience https://nypost.com/2026/01/26/business/for-the-patient-a-2026-stock-market-miracle-awaits/
LOL...poor FED. Just a JOKE. I just got done with one major financial site. AND....not a single article about the FED meeting today. Thank goodness. They are IRRELEVANT.....since everyone knows POWELL is not going to do anything for the rest of his term. BUT....many, many articles on.....GOLD.
WXYZ, For the most part , NEWS outlets just churn over the same stories all day long, over and over again. In reality you can get 99% of the news you need in just 15 minutes. And that's why I'm here, because the vetting has already been done by WXYZ , Thank You very much As I'm getting older everybody seems to be talking about rotating from growth stocks to income , fair enough, for the most part when we retire we are more interested in income than growth. I'm thinking of opening another account just for income stocks/ETF's . I could then follow the characteristics of certain types of income stocks more easily. Plus I think I could set up an auto withdrawal feature to fund the WIFE's checking account monthly. I was thinking of starting all the different income positions with the same opening value, and watch how each reacts over time. Maybe include some covered call positions as well ??? Your thought's ??? Stocks Killing it this morning........ MU micron AAPL GOOGL AMZN
Seems like a good strategy to explore....oldmanram. Probably relevant to most people in retirement. I am a rare person that has divorced my retirement from my stocks....with my income annuities. if i was doing that strategy I would probably focus on a portfolio of 10-20 stocks like.....PG, WMT, KO, COST, JPM, XOM, JNJ, MCD. I would focus on the cream of the crop of the big cap dividend companies. Or I might consider a strategy of an....equal weight SP500 fund. I guess my primary question is what do you consider......"income stocks"? AND....with much of your income coming from real estate holdings.....you have freedom to try out some stock strategies. Did you go to the Hawk game?
I start the day with six of seven stocks green. COST is my one red holding. At least that is where I was when I checked the ticker about 10 minutes ago. The market today: S&P 500 rises as traders await Big Tech earnings https://www.cnbc.com/2026/01/26/stock-market-today-live-updates.html
All in all....NOTHING...going on today in terms of the markets and investing. Fine with me.....it is called "normal".
Didn't make it to the game, BUT , I had a heck of a fun time watching from home and bothering my neighbors !!! I hooked up a Triple Marine Air Horn to my compressor in my shop. And set off a barrage of honks with every score. I had to turn it down to 1/3 power , it was just too darn loud !!! And as far as loading the account , I thought I try comparing all sorts of different INCOME stocks etf's , I have noticed that I get a better FEEL for a position if I actually own it and check on it daily , than if I am just Following something
I agree completely. I need to own something to really know if I like it or not. That is why I do a fair number of "trial positions" or little "training wheel" stocks. Most of them dont stick...but once in a while I hit on one that does.
