A decision point for any person in the process of buying a house. Is a 15- or 30-Year Mortgage Right for You? Choosing between a 15- or 30-year mortgage depends on how comfortable you are with a higher payment. https://money.usnews.com/loans/mortgages/articles/is-15-or-30-year-mortgage-right-for-you Back when we had a mortgage....if my memory is right we had a 15 year mortgage once. BUT....I definately prefer.....free and clear.
I dont invest according to short term.....a few months....of statistical data. BUT...I will post this anyway since it is interesting. Just do what you did last month https://klementoninvesting.substack.com/p/just-do-what-you-did-last-month ......"there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the market return in the first month of a quarter and the second month of a quarter. The chart below shows that on average, for every percentage point of excess performance by the US market in the first month of a quarter (in our case, April), the market shows an excess performance of 0.28% in the second month (i.e., May). So, by just following last month’s price action, you got an inbuilt advantage in the second month of a quarter."..... As I said I have NO interest in this sort of short term "stuff". But....others might be interested in this content.
A lot of good investing history in this article. How the rules of getting rich in the U.S. change with every era There was no golden era when everyone was debt-free, saved money, and invested wisely. https://www.fastcompany.com/91536443/how-the-rules-of-getting-rich-in-america-change-every-era ......"History doesn’t give us fixed rules for getting ahead financially. The “right” way keeps changing, so your best bet is to stay flexible, try a mix of strategies, and not get too excited every time someone claims they’ve cracked the code to wealth. We have an opportunity-rich landscape, but how best to mine it changes in every era.".......
Another nice article. Five More Reasons the Bulls Are in Charge https://www.carsongroup.com/insights/blog/five-more-reasons-the-bulls-are-in-charge/
I consider this data so DISTORTED as to bee useless. AND...I tend to NOT get real excited about this sort of short term inflation data. In fact in "MY" real world.....I am seeing prices either stable or even dropping a bit. Stock market today: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq mixed as PPI inflation data comes in hot https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live...pi-inflation-data-comes-in-hot-223045340.html
AND....regarding the above....in "MY" world.....the markets are doing just fine today. The NASDAQ is UP nicely. As are four of my seven stocks......NVDA, COST, AAPL, and GOOGL. Surely....I am in the GREEN today.......(dont call me Shirley)....but I have not looked at my account today. Want some market driving predictions....for 2026? Well here are a couple that are not real shocking: 1. The IRAN situation will en by the end of the year......a HUGE market driver. 2. The Ukraine war will end by the end of the year.....the next 6-8 months......a mild to medium market driver. 3. Earnings will CONTINUE to BOOM for the next three quarters and probably beyond.....a market driver. 4. Inflation will drop.....as a result of the above.....over the next 6-12 months.....a market driver. 5. the BULL MARKET will continue for at least another 1-2 years.
"Dont call me Shirley" "I am serious. And don't call me Shirley." This famous line is from the 1980 parody film Airplane!, spoken by Leslie Nielsen playing Dr. Rumack in response to the line "Surely you can't be serious". The joke is a hallmark of the film's deadpan comedy style, spoofing 1950s disaster movies. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SeEypGEHi2A
NICE......AI in action at a BIG CAP TECH/RETAIL company. Amazon ditches Rufus chatbot, launches Alexa shopping agent in AI strategy pivot https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/13/ama...chatbot-in-favor-of-alexa-shopping-agent.html
YES.....all the prior rate cuts have done NOTHING. It is way past time for a TOTALLY new direction at the FED. 10-year Treasury yield hits new high for the year after very hot producer prices reading https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/13/tre...ors-digest-hotter-than-expected-cpi-data.html
I LOVE the way NVDA is investing money all over the tech and AI space. In many cases the amounts involved are PEANUTS for the company. BUT...over the longer term these "investments" will pay off BIG TIME. They have their finger in many pies.....and as a result have access to the latest and greatest tech.....as well as many of the smartest minds in the tech world. In addition they are creating......NATURAL...... partners for their products and tech. A GREAT management and business strategy to keep your potential markets and future products extremely BROAD. A very nice way to avoid ending up like INTEL in about 15-30 years. This type of investment will keep NVDA on the cutting edge of many areas of tech.....WAY......into the future. Nvidia’s Jensen Huang bets on this British startup to build ‘next frontier’ of AI https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/13/goo...tartup-partners-nvidia-superintelligence.html
HERE.....is a little companion story to the AMAZON story above. These HUGE companies are RACING into the AI future. Google races to put Gemini at the center of Android before Apple’s AI reboot https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/12/goo...enter-of-android-before-apples-ai-reboot.html
I see that AMZN has now abandoned the DARK SIDE and has joined the GREEN today. This leaves me with TWO red stocks right now....PLTR and MSFT. Two of the most DISRESPECTED companies in the world right now. BUT.....I am HAPPY to own and hold both of them for the long term.
LOL....you know me....I have to get in some mention of MR A-HOLE. Yes he is mentioned in the MILDLY POSITIVE article about PLTR. Alex Karp Claims Palantir’s Results ‘Dwarf’ Software History — Q1 Shows He Isn’t Exaggerating https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/alex-karp-claims-palantir-results-105059330.html ......"After Q1, Palantir has pretty much taken off in a way no other software firm has. It's pretty much blasted off above and beyond the rule of 40, which implies the sum of the growth rate and profit margin should be at least 40%. For that last quarter, Palantir's figure was at 145%."....... ALTHOUGH.....keep in mind that this is the single.....MOST DISRESPECTED....stock in the markets. DOWN by (-41.5%) in the last.....6 months. In spite of....MASSIVE earnings BEATS over the last at least 4-8 quarters.
Well......I had to look. At my brokerage account....that is. A BIG GAIN so far for me today. RIDING a nice STRONG WAVE.
I see this article as a VERY RATIONAL look at PLTR. If I was NOT a current long term owner.....I would probably think about averaging into this company on the current weakness. The MARKET is TOTALLY focused on the numbers with this company. What I believe is being SEVERELY discounted is the HUGE GROWTH POTENTIAL that current and past earnings are showing us for PLTR......that goes way beyond just the basic.....BEAN-COUNTER.....numbers. In addition this company is under constant SHORT attack. I also believe that the MANAGEMENT at this company has TOTALLY proven themselves. I see this as a company that has PROVEN that they know how to do business and SELL product. Even Dividend Stocks Are Beating Palantir Now. Still Worth Buying? https://247wallst.com/investing/202...-are-beating-palantir-now-still-worth-buying/ BUT.....as I said if I was going to buy I would probably average in and evaluate the situation along the way...over the next 3-6 months. AND.....I would definately not bet the farm....and....I would consider the RISK involved.
Like I said , If certain stocks do get overvalued there may be a correction, or a correction of overvalued stocks, recently the Mag7 was stagnated while the small caps exploded in April and May. These are normal corrections, a stock gets pushed into the limelight and BANG it gets HOT for a a week, a month, a quarter. Just normal....... One thing I am have some questions about is , when the AI rush is over , and lets say EARNINGS have gone up , will these companies be able to maintain these profits ? Or will they spend it in CAP EX, or ??? Just saying ....
Time to sit and wait for the rest of the day to unfold. Of course......I remain fully invested for the long term as usual. AND....I am ENJOYING the fact that........NVDA and AAPL....both hit new ALL TIME highs today. AND....as usual with the modern MEDIA environment......I have NOT seen a peep about this in any of the content or headlines that I have seen today.
Maybe they changed the article but , about the inflation number doesn't seem correct, here are the numbers I found Key Inflation Data for April 2026: Headline YoY (All items): 3.8% Core YoY (Excl. food & energy): 2.8% Monthly Rate (April vs. March): 0.6% Energy Prices YoY: 17.9% Gasoline Prices YoY: 28.4% Food Prices YoY: 3.2% Now if energy prices go down the inflation RATE may go down, BUT , do you think prices will go down ? HELL NO ! Companies have proven in the past that they rarely lower prices. UNLESS they are in a full on recession Just my .02 worth
I went and checked WXYZ, as of this morning approx. 75 stocks hit all time high's this morning............. Granted I have never heard of most of them , except Cisco, Constellation and HP .... And non of my stocks were on the on the list .....ARGH
I do see what I consider a HUGE opportunity right now with the current rates. The 30 year TREASURY is now at about....5.039%. That is an amazing yield for someone that has long term....... safe money...... that they want to lock in to the safest investment in the world.
