Hi everyone. Someone had asked me privately if I could throw up some type of formal announcement in here regarding the situation with this forum, and why many have recently flocked to another forum over the past few weeks. I think WXYZ has covered this pretty good here, but I thought some type of official post could go up here as well explaining some of things that have transpired here. For anyone who does not know me, I have been a member at this community spanning back 2 decades long. I was also a co-admin here for about 10 years long. And I had helped with the massive overhaul from our prior community HSM (HotStockMarket) in 2016. I've been mostly on and off here as a regular poster. But, I never full abandoned this community. Anyway, I just wanted to go through some of the issues that W had outlined a number of times here over the past few weeks, and why many of us have effectively moved to a new home. 1 - The inability to add new members to this forum: For the regulars here who haven't been aware, new user registrations have been closed off at this site since June of 2024 which was the date of the last member to sign up here. That's over 2 years long. Hence, there's been absolutely zero growth of this community since that time. That's inexcusable imo. 2 - Site security issues: A member here recently discovered that the ads on this site have been compromised with malicious SEO-injection and redirect hack, as per was also confirmed with findings from AI. Basically, this site has been injected with some suspicious redirect links. Hence, Google having removed the listing for this site when you run a search for "stock forums". Stockaholics had previously been listed on the 3rd page of that key phrase. Now, when you search for "Stockaholics" you'll find the site showing up in foreign language. Screenshot below to give you an example of what you might see when you run that search on Google: 3 - Broken e-mail server: It's bad enough that new user registrations have been shuttered here for over 2 years. Now, e-mails aren't being sent from this site. So, even if you are an existing member of this community but have forgotten your password, you won't be able to sign back in here because there is no way for you to reset your password since as mentioned e-mails aren't being sent out from this site. Effectively locking you out of this community. 4 - Lack of any on-site administration: The owner/admin of this community has effectively been AWOL for well over a year now without a single post. With a community of this stature, I feel this is pretty inexcusable. Yes, I understand we all have lives and are busy with our own things and can't constantly dedicate time for other things like this site. However, not being active here for over a year is a very long time and not a good show for this community that I feel deserves so much better. This site has many issues that needs attention and fixes that it just isn't getting. This wasn't more evident than the other week when this site had suffered a half day's long outage. One would have expected some type of announcement or post explaining the outage, but we heard nothing. These 4 issues I feel are super imperative for the health of this community. Unfortunately, it does feel like this place has simply been abandoned with the towel thrown in. That's unfortunate. I feel this community deserves better. Anyway, because of these critical issues many of us have also throw in the towel here and have joined another site (similar in format to this one). And yes, new user registrations are again possible on that site. There are also no ads to worry about, and the e-mails from the site are fully functional and being sent out. And lastly, there is on-site administration present there daily. If you are one that has either been locked out of your account here because there is no way to reset your password with e-mails not being sent out from this site, of if you have been someone who has wanted to sign up an account and contribute here but couldn't due to user registrations being closed. We are already seeing members pop up that could not register here....even through they silently followed this thread for years. They are NOW able to actually post and....SPEAK. If you are an old lurker old member that got left behind and now wonder where everyone went....or you are having problems finding or getting into the new site....POST HERE. I will continue to look at this site DAILY to look for....STRAGGLERS. There is ONE QUIRK....to the new site. We've been over this but: - I don't care about the daily tick - I don't need to chart any more data points to see the NEWS is objectively untrustworthy, with public trust perception polls showing between 15~23% of respondents consider the NEWS trustworthy. Nearly any news or article is background noise to me. - Meanwhile, it has come out a large polling company has been releasing completely fabricated poll results as a "social experiment to see if they can effect the outcome of an election". So far, it appears to be isolated to one particular company but I expect we will learn more in time. - We live in a truthless world, nearly. My mission is to research and vet data so I can have a clue about our reality. That's not a very interesting forum convo. You folks are nice people. hi W, yes, it appears cloudflare may be experiencing some issues this morning. not directly related to the site itself. but if you can try hitting up the site again in a few and see if you got it working this time. hopefully should be resolved let me know. edit: confirmed it to be a cloudflare error. should be all fixed now.
