Finisar (FNSR) Stock Jumps on Q1 Beat, MKM Partners Upgrades NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Finisar (FNSR) were surging 14.72% to $26.65 in pre-market trading on Friday after the company reported earnings and revenue that topped Wall Street's projections. MKM Partners upped its rating on the stock to "buy" from "hold" and increased its price target to $35 from $21 on the stock in a note released this morning. The firm said that Finisar is a "proven high quality producer" within the optical components and modules industry.

Going to be a tough day for bulls here Finisar shares plunged more than 21 percent during after-hours trade following an earnings and revenue miss for its third quarter. The telecom equipment maker reported earnings of 61 cents a share on revenue of $381 million while analysts expected earnings of 62 cents a share on revenue of $390 million, according to Thomson Reuters consensus.
Fiber optic component supplier Finisar ($FNSR) may also come under pressure after reporting weaker than expected fiscal third quarter results and forecasting fiscal fourth quarter results below estimates.
