New to this forum. Been messing with some stocks for a couple years now. Mostly dividend paying stock and funds. Hope to learn more and maybe see some opportunities that I have missed. Thanks for having me.

Welcome, Sfguard. It sounds like you're more investment minded than most.

I hope another investor comes along, as I'm bobbing in an ocean of traders. :D

The thing about investing in distributing, healthy, companies is that price and timing the market is less important than growth stocks. Given that it's nearly impossible to time the market, despite what everyone thinks, this is significant. A distributing company set to DRIP or synthetically DRIP will correct itself over time.

We've done really well with a couple of REITS and OK with some others.

Our life is shifting into retirement but, during the working years, it was nice to know we had a monthly income to fall back on, should we have hit hard times. Bad things happened to us but we were fortunate that we never had to dip into our retirement funds.

It has become clear to me that, by far, the most difficult thing for people to do is nothing. Very few people have the patience to wait for a company to earn money and distribute but it's a guaranteed win.

Meanwhile, 100% of day traders claim to make money on every online forum but statistics show us that extreme few actually do. I get the drive to feel like you're doing something and I appreciate them injecting money into the markets for folks like us but it's a fools errand.
