Back in mid-January this gapped down 10% after an analyst downgrade. Cited were a couple of ridiculous reasons:
    1) Downgraded from Outperform to Market Perform because his price target of $34 was already hit [maybe your target was wrong]
    2) A competitor, Rent-A-Center, reported a surprise loss because they are transitioning to a new sales system [has nothing to do with Aaron's]

Today it's back down to that level around $29, and volume is a lot lower than it was in mid-January. ER tomorrow, uptrend that started back in November may continue.

That is a beautiful chart. is there any way to assume a move like that is going to happen. Or do you just need to be there when it does?

I don't know of any way. There might be a way that increases the chances of it happening, but don't expect a method that has 100% success. But if you have a few % points advantage it can help.

Gapped up today after ER. Set my stop at 30 and it got hit in the first 5-minutes. Very important those first 5-minutes in trading day after ER.

That downtrend resistance was real today

Has a chance to pull back more since the general market looks like it will not be going up in the short term. But I think next time this resistance will be taken out, albeit at a lower level.
